The hood release latch on the driver's side isn't closing (?) all the wy. From the looks of it, all I should have to do is loosen the holding screw and let out a little. But, I have damn little to work with here.
Question: if I do let it out some and then tighten that screw back down, is the hood latch cable liable to break off because of the screw having been tight on that spot for so long?
2nd question: would it be just as easy to get a new hood release cable and go with new cable? How difficult to install?
I know I'm asking guys that think an engine tear down is a walk in the park, so any help without loud snickering and/or guffaws would be helpful. Thanks.

Yes, the cable will likely cause you grief. I'd replace it.

It is quite easy to do. The hardest part will be squeezing under the dash between the seat and the steering wheel to route the new cable through.

While you're ordering a new one (from under-dash to under-hood), why not get the one that goes across to the passenger side and change it too?

Well, okey-dokey. That would be a bright thing to do. Thanks for the confirmation that the old cable would cause grief. Squeezing under the dash (I'm 6'1" and 240lbs) sounds like a fun way to try and break my back, I look forward to it!
