Hood strut question

I just bought a new hood support from online and when it arrived it wasent quite what I thought it was going to be. Fit, function and look is all the same, but it has made in Mexico and from a company called stabilus. I was expecting maybe like a GM part . Is this a reputable manufacturer? I guess I'm just used to buying NOS Items hehe

Probably one of the largest gas strut makers in the world and supplier of lots of OE struts for new cars world wide

Now that GM does not carry many over the counter parts for C4's , it is possible you are buying the same identical part from the same OE manufacturer
but just not with a GM parts label on it that the strut had went GM bought X ,000 of them for OE use in new cars and over the counter replacements
