Anyone dealt with Hot Rod Air out of Selma, TX? They offer a replacement A/C (everything included) and I would like to know about anyones experience with their product. Think I'll go by next week & check it out. It uses the Sanden compressor & comes with evap, cond, dryer & hoses.

Thought you might have gotten a response by now, I don't know much other than I talked to them once this summer and their system sounded pretty nice but I fixed mine instead. CAC member OH6A contacted me on this forum and said he had one of their systems and loved it. I believe he was in Texas also, and might be able to give you some good feedback.

Good luck,

Bill

Sorry, didnt see this post earlier. I have their kit installed in my 77. The fit was superb, relatively easy, the hardest part being removal of the factory equipment. I feel their control panels are a bit lame, so I built my own, looks better and fits in the factory location. All around I would give it a 9 out of 10. The heater is more than adequate and the A/C will freeze you out.

Cheers

Richard

Richard,

So they require you to use their control panel. I would have to list that as a negative. I'm not a purist nor am I building an original car, but some things just look better 'stock'.

Rat,
Couldnt agree more :)

Previous owner installed their system in mine and he had really lame aftermarket controls mounted next to the drivers knee. My car was not an OEM AC car, but they do make a replacement contoller that looks like a non-AC OEM piece but it operates air, heat & def. Much better and looks stock, I think it cost about $75.

I am in the process of installing a unit from classicautoair it uses the stock controls. Install is pretty easy.Car wont be on road for a couple of weeks so i cant say how well it works yet.

Nichols78, please let me know how it turns out. I have not yet started reassembling my interior, so I still have some time to decide.
