I am needing to get more paint for my dark blue metallic '73 vette. I bought a pint that was mixed from a local discount paint store and I just gave them the original paint code (927) to go by. I painted my hinges and they look noticably too light of a shade of blue compared to my chip in the back of my "Corvette ID Numbers" book. I don't have anything to go by as the car is completely stripped. I am not sure if the previous color was original anyway. It was definitely an "Earl Scheib" paint job and coming off pretty badly.
Is it safe to use the book's paint chip to go by or is there a better method to get the correct color?
thanks
