Look at the engine block on the bellhousing flange on the drivers side. You should see a number cast ON the block. For 66, it should be 3858174.
Look at the bellhousing flange on the passengers side up near/behind the distributor. You'll see some numbers cast ON the block...something like E126. E would be May, A=January, and so on. 12 is the day. 6 is the year. So this example would be May 12, 1966.
Look at the engine stamp pad on the passengers side block in front of the cylinder head. You'll see 2 sets of numbers STAMPED INTO that pad. One is the VIN derivitive. The other is the assembly code.
For the VIN, you'll see something like 6110000. The last 5 digits should be the same as the serial number of your car, in this example, 10,000.
For the assembly code, you'll see something like F (or maybe V) 0101XX. The F or V is Flint assembly, the 0101 example would be January 1st. And the XX is the engine usage. For a 327 powerglide, you should find HO for the 300HP automatic version or HR for the 300HP automatic version with K19 (air inj. reactor).
Get the numbers and post 'em here. Chuck
