Can anyone tell me how to remove the wiper switch on my '82?

Good question as I need to know this too. I would guess that its the same as my 79, same kind of switch. That plastic cover seems kinda hard to get off without bending it or even worse. In addition can anybody tell me if I replaced my stock switch with a pulsating wiper switch is that all I need to make the wipers pulse or is there other changes too??

Thanks in advance.

Jeff

I got the switch out. I took out the speedometer and tachometer and then got to it through there. I had to unhook the speedometer cable from the cruise control to be able to pull the guages out

Jeff, The switch is only part. There is also a relay/pulse unit. I'm trying to remember, but I think it is located in the storeage behind the pass. seat.

Gary

Gary, you mean in the box behind the passengers seat? If so I'll look in the morning. Do I need to remove the inside liner to find the switch?? And if so, if I need to add the pulse switch, are the wires there or am I at a dead end???

While driving the other day I forgot how used to those damn pulsing wipers that I have in my Lincoln LS........you can loose control of your car trying to switch those things on and off.. :-)

Thanks........

Jeff

Jeff,

Remove the liner and there are 2 or 3 relay boxes under there. I'm not sure which one is for the pulse wipers. I had to replace mine, but that was about 3 years ago and I just don't remember. You change over to pulse you will need the wiper switch and the pulse relay. I think I still have the relay box away somewhere with you decide to go for it, but would have to find the part number to make sure I still have it.

Gary

Shoot Gary, sounds like its more trouble than its worth. Besides I am trying to keep this thing original.........but pulse wipers sure would be nice to have. :cry

And a rear defogger, and a CD player, and rear speakers, and a four speed, and taller gears, and aluminum wheels, and..............

Only thing my Vettes got going for it is its a pristine 79 with a perfect body and interior and its only got 28,000 miles. Did I mention its all original and has been in a time capsule?? ;)
