:) im not really sure how you go about doing this. it's a big block engine; i couldn't find any crate 427 motors

(i love the L-88 engine) so im trying to replicate those old horsepower figure sof 500hp-600hp. but i want a 427 engine; im not interested in using a 454 for that.

Get a 454 block and drop in shorter stroke crank + rods + pistons, the 454 and 427 are both 4.250 bore.

The 454 has a 4.00" stroke, the 427 has a 3.76" stroke.

Not trying to throw a wrench in the works, but if you aren't too worried about originality, a small-block can be bored-and-stroked to 427. A little more expensive than a 427 big-block, but lighter, as well.

Summit (the worlds speed shop...) has 427 crate race engines. Jegs just started carrying some nice BB street motors that deliver 550-600 h.p. They are in thier new catalogue.

You should consider buidling up a 454 as it will give you greater torque than a 427 due to the longer stroke.
