Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

How fast am i going.?

You question seems ambiguous....with 275-40-17 tires @ 80 MPH w/ 4.11 gears in 6th gear. It would be about 2158 RPMS

if i put in 4:11's(4:10's really., but i just like the sound of 4 elevens):w

When your car is in drive (or 4th if a manual) and when your RPMs reach about 4,100rpms, you should be going 70mph, although your speedometer gauge will read differently.

That should give you a good idea how fast you are going at lower speeds.

If you have a GPS, you could use that too!

that seems about right..maybe a bit conservative..??
i was guessing about 3500 with an auto

this seems a little high...i dont know my tire diameter or id use that nifty calculator

with 2:49 ring gear going to a 4:10...would that be a 65% increase in rpm.?
am i doing that right,.?

Auto has 0.70 4th gear ratio so 4.10 gives

2600 @ 70mph with 26" tire
(255/50 x16 is 25.6" tall ; 17" tire similar height)

I just measured my tires and its 24in for the diameter... What is the overdrive number for a 1996 auto 4spd... (is it .70?)

If I put this in then I get 1956 rpm for my 3.07 rear end... Not bad!:cool

i put 4:10's in a Z28 LT1 6 spd...and as far as im concerned it was perfect...
i could still use low gear and had plenty for crusin and a noticeable difference in acceleration...
but the 6 sp has a .5 final doesnt it.?
so the .7 may be a little low with 4:10's but at least 3:90's would be way cool for city crusin...
