How hard to drop gas tank on a 69

I would like to remove the tank sticker I can see it on the tank but do not want to get involved in a huge project.

remove the spare tire carrier then the gas tank is held in place with two straps, run the gas down fairly low first to make the tank lighter

You might have a removable cross member holding the tank up like mine. You'll have to slide an open end wrench into the chasis gap and feel around to get the nut hooked. That's about the hardest part if you have to do that.

I was able to reach up and carefully peel the paper off the top of the tank on our 74 - - unfortunately, nothing was readable - - very faint marks on brittle paper where the letters once were. I guess it depends on the environment - - but be prepared for the fact that there might not be anything to see!

You sometimes need to push the exhaust pipes down and out towards the hollow portion of the rear quarter panels, so loosen the rear exhaust hangers.

I agree with that, I have not encountered a small project. I had the gas tank out of mine, and I had troubles getting it positioned when I re-installed it. I had some trouble lining up the tank and getting the cross member back in place. I also had trouble dropping it out in between the exhaust pipes. However, if you are not dropping it down that far, that won't be a concern.
