you see the max torque at 4000 rmp and the max hp at 5200 rmp, also are they not falling down as much the stock engine has, there is much torgue and hp left at 6000 this means, you can feel the vette pulling after 4000 rmp!

rearwheel power ofcourse,

is for manualtransmissions about 80% of the enginepower, when the engine is built in the car, that is no dyno stand.

you see now what happends here? Much more topend power, the curves are slightly fading away, this will make your vette runs fast.

this one is with the DTA sequential injection, roller rocker 1.5 crane goldseries and 1000 cfm TB, but the engine was not optimal adjusted. I have a better Dyno run, but I could not find it in my pc. hahahahaha. That run gives 172 HP.

And for the freaks, all the testing was done in 4th gear, when you test your vette in 3th gear you will see a increase of HP, wich doens not means your will have more under the hood! hahahaha.

And,

The actual given HP of a corvette from 1972, are not the same HP as they would tested that car now, today the old cars would have much less power. In the past they used dynostand powers and today SAE recalculate powers. So every car uses the same HP so you can see what you buy.

This is a C3 bigblock, wich gives about 200hp at the wheels, but the factory says 365.........

Ok you got me..

I was in the end going to go with a 383 Stroker or a Crate one. That said I would like to get my exhaust and intake ready for it Via 54mm TB's and bigger injectors. (What # do you suggest?)

Before the stroking Im going to install either EdelBrock or TPiS's heads. CompuCam/Roller Cam from Crane or TPiS's answer (Im not a cam literate guy)

Ive got the Stock TB of course but after that setup is a 54mm TB warranted? Will that 54mm hurt me that bad?

so with a stock bottom end a "different" cam and Edelbrock or TPiS heads (And all the other listed stuff) how would I add up you think?

(Leave my +4's alone! I love em hehehe :J )

Jeff the reason why all the planning is Im building my house in 2 years and Im currently going to auctions for stuff and building it myself. When I go for a loan on the house Im going to have some extra play doh to deal with. Im thinking in the 7500-10K mark. I would like to add it to the car. However many people are telling me to sell the 85 and upgrade. (After all the work I have into already Im not a willing candiate for that)

My brakes will be upgraded, I'll be redoing the interior, and putting on Y2K wheels. so...basicly a new car.

I just want to hit the 12's possibly the 11's at around the 400-500Hp mark (Flywheel)

Okay. I would suggect this package then TPis # 500-670 $4200USD

it includes:
-Miniram with fuel rails and AFPR
-TPiS/AFR heads
-ZZ9 cam
-timing set
-lifters
-pushrods
-rocker arms
-headbolts
-intake, head and timing cover gaskets

I would then almost suggest to go with the 7730 Camaro Speed density computer instead the conversion we talked of (which I still have not had time to work on)

I have that combo but have CNC Machined Stock L98 heads and I am running in the 12's

Jeff

Ok you blew me over.

What is a Speed Density computer? And will I have all the functions of the digital dash? <-- Would it be smarter to convert to analog (I think this is doable by me)

Is this a hard mod to perfom? Am I going to have to start choppin and cuttin the wire harnesses? (Remember your talking to a putz LOL I have a understanding but I just figured out the whole ECM Fuel injection thing)

Aside from that what are the benefits over the 89 computer we are working towards?

I started a new thread for this HERE

curious

im kinda curious as to the type of horsepower increase that ive made with the following mods and was wondering if anyone
that knowledgeable could give me a close to accurate guess.
i have and 86' L-98 with aluminum heads(235hp/330ft lbs tq) with
4+3 manual trans! mods as follows:
accell 8.8mm wires a/c delco rapid fire plugs
accell hei super coil k&n airfilter
160 stat 2.25walker rear y-pipe with balance tube(for reduced resonance)
hooker aero chamber mufflers with the dual chrome tip 3in outlets

im considering adding an air foil, tb coolant by-pass,
new accell injectors, adjustable pressure regulator,
one of the after market throtle body switches that is installed between the tps and harness (claims it tricks the computer in thinking the engines is at a wider open throtle for increased reponse: go figure!) I also want to order an A.D.S. stage 2 chip
i had one in an 84' z-51 cross-fire L-83 that i had. and it did wonders. i called ads and the rep really sound like had no clue aboutthe chip or the gains of hp/tq; although he claimed that using a stage 2 chip i would need a free flowing exhaust because itwould kill the catalyst converter because the chip terminates the egr. and that i need a free flow exhaust, and that i shouldby the stage 1. im thinking that the stage 2 would be compatible with hypertech (stage 2)thermomaster. oh i almost for got one more question! I know that the OD unitof the 4+3 on the 86-88 vette
works off the tps and dont use a detent cable, and that its designed not to kickdown past 2300rpm. is there a tps setting that would allow it to kick down at speeds up to 2500 rpm
that would not compromise drivability? and also can any one give
some various input on the improvements and gains on perfoormance chips with the manual 4+3 corvette> thanks

Did you also cut open the air filter lid? That was a very big improvement for me, I noticed an immediate decrease in throttle response time.

I also did the air foil thing; some would doubt if it helps, but it does smooth out air in the throttle body. I'm sure you've looked in there and the air just crashes instead of flowing. I got mine off eBay for $32, not a bad investment and the exhaust tone was noticeably louder, don't know if that means anything.

I have a Flowmaster catback, which has gotten louder since I've installed it and it really screams now. Even my co-workers compliment me on the sound quality of it.

From the reading that I've done, I guess the two most restrictive things for the L98 are:

exhaust
computer chip

I had custom chip burned for me by Jeff and you can really feel the difference, especially on the higher end. It was also programmed to keep the engine cooler via turning the fans on earlier.

I would venture to say that maybe doing the exhaust would be the best overall mod you do because not only can you feel it a little bit, but you can also hear it and it'll bring a :D to your face!

Might get roller rockers this winter and that's going to be it for me. Headers are just too expensive and the miniram would take me months of scrimping and saving.

edmomd im trying to debate right now do i wanna keep it or trade it on a 1990 convertible 6spd L-98 with FX-3 suspension its got like 70k miles and its tripple black with leather. i lke
my 86 pace car but its a harddecision giving up the 4+3 for the 6spd. i love just pressing punching the accelerator at high way croosing speed getting the "automatic trans like" kick down
and then the crisp firm shift back into od. eventhough
they're both manuals, they are nite and day. but ive yet to havedriven the 6spd vette so maybe i should drive one b4 i decide.but i kinda hate the tale end of the 91 up (square tail lights) yukky!

I'd go for it, I think the triple blacks look awesome, especially with black tinted windows!

That FX-3 is worth it, with it's adjustable settings and plus you're going up to 17 inch rims!

You can't forget 3 years of refinement, sure the powerplant may not have increased much (if at all), but that's never a problem because you can always add power.

Edmond i totally agree, but ithink the 86 might be a collectors item , 1 day being the indianappolis 500 pace car. an not to mention the first year of the returned convertible. i started to buy
an 88 conv 4+3 before i bought my 86 like the day b4 , i waslooking at both conparing the two. the 88 had only 62k mi
on it but the exhaust pipe had a crack in it under the car, i couldtell that engine work had been done because the head on the left side had an exhaust manifold gasket on it and the right side didnt. and not only that but the od unit was shot , wouldnt tven engage and they wouldnt budge off the price. so i told the salesman that hed look better in it than iwould and i left.
