My 1988 C4 coupe has one reverse lamp (back up light) out. I purchased the correct bulb but am not sure how to replace this lamp. Can anyone tell me how it is replaced? Thanks!

on my 1995, I removed the tag and just reached inside and unscrewed the bulb.

The socket for the bulb has a push in tab that you must press in order to make it turn. If you can't figure it out by feel, just remove the two 10mm black bolts that hold the light in place and slide the light housing out.

i'm speechless

Wait a minute.!!!!!!:eyerole:confused
You actually can't figure out how to change a light bulb ????:confused
Man, I'd hate to have your maintenance and repair bills for automobiles you've owned. OOOOOuch:ohnoes
Sorry but I'm a "car guy"who has haywired and repaired and replaced just about everything on the many vehicles I've owned.
I just could not help myself I had to comment. I just never cease to be amazed at how little knowledge and ability some people have regarding what usually constitutes the second biggest purchase people make.
Kinda like driving for 30 years and still not knowing how to merge or parallel park.:chuckle

Well, here was the situation. I had just purchased the Vette (my first Corvette), and it needed inspection. There were several issues that needed to be addressed before inspection, including the rear reverse lamps. I have two older model cars, and both have differing means of installing bumper/tail lamps. On one, I nearly cracked the plastic housing trying to extract the burnt lamp. The other was difficult to remove because of the age of the lamp (corroded, stuck). So, being that the Vette was my "new" item, I did not want to crack the bumper area or tail lamps -- especially since I had no manual at the time and no clear idea of how to proceed. I am not a mechanic, but I do love cars, love to maintain them, and live miles from a certified Vette mechanic-- thus am not afraid to ask a question here to learn as much as I can -- even about the proper replacement of a lamp. I want to do the right thing, and I am not an authority -- but I am trying! Have a great weekend.

My apologies in advance:beer
I'm glad to see you apologized after being un-necessarily rude and ignorant.

These forums exist so that owners and enthusiasts can come together and help one another out. Your response was nothing more than oral defecation that did not answer the question.
