What is the best way to restore crusty oxidized aluminium rims? Or should I just have someone do them? Any comments would be helpful.

I took some Mothers Mag and Aluminium polish to mine.
Add some new center caps and BEHOLD!!!

I used "captain lees" stripper, stripped the clear and polished away...got some POR clear coat from Ecklers and reapplied the clear coat ..looks brand new..Did this on my 90 recently...great results.

Slashnick......

Did you do the Mothers polish by hand, or via electric buffing?

Hand.
On with one cloth, off with another. Don't let it dry or you'll have to apply more to get it off. Can't beat it for $6.

Did you strip the clear coat off, or did the Mothers polish do the job?

I'm pretty sure the clear coat was long gone already.

They do look great, I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for the tip.

No problem-o
Make sure you take before and after pics and let us know how they turned out.
