How'd you convince your wives?

Lucy64 said:
VetteramI.....I guess not all of the wives are like yours and mine. My wife didn't buy ours but they are OUR cars and she loves it as much as I do. I really feel sorry for all you guys that have to 'convince' the wife.

It makes the corvette that much better of an experience. She helps me with the mods and cleaning. Something we can do together. Seeing as we travel alot, what better way than in a Vette. :w

i explained to wif: only two hobbies a grown man can have --cars or women
then i let her pick for me..and i even gave her the option to change any time

If you've done the right thing , you don't have to convince them.

I didn't have to convince my wife...

I have yet to read how some of you convinced your wives on going along with purchasing a new Corvette!

Well, have I got a story for you. I already owned a 1972 Stingray when I met my wife. She likes to go for rides on sunny days, but I drive her nuts with the way I treat it like a fragile egg...no driving in the rain, no leaving it where I can't see it, no really long trips, etc.

We've talked about the C6 for the last year, even stopping in at two dealers to have a lustful look. She was encouraging me to go for it, but I dismissed it because of the steep cost. But, I suppose she got tired of hearing me sigh wistfully about it for all those months. She went ahead and took the step of placing the order with our local Chevy dealer a month before Xmas. What I got on Christmas day was a Hot Wheels C6 model with a bill of sale tucked into the trunk. Talk about the gift of a lifetime! I've been driving with a wide smile on my face for a week. The only catch? She made me promise I wouldn't treat it like fragile pottery...I have to use it like a daily driver and be prepared to leave it in the restaurant parking lot without freaking out. I can live witrh that.

What can I say? I picked the right woman!

What an AWESOME wife you've got there!
I can't stand those Lexus comercials at Christmas time every year 'cause they're so unrealistic....and here it really happens to you....only X10!!!!

Do as she wishes and use it, and abuse it.
You still got the '72 to baby!

withhold sex from her till she lets you buy your corvette.:L

convince?? Have you showed her some brochures? I can't imagine it would take much convincing. I would only say no to someone if they told me I could never drive it, otherwise I would be all for it!
I think if you involve her too it would go better. Maybe let her pick the color. I hope to one day have a C6, and hopefully I won't have to wait 24 years!

We were in the dealer having the truck looked at. Saw a C6 in the show room and sat in it, fell in love. The wife sat in it and I told here this is OUR;) car, She said let's take it home end of story :D :D :D :D

Take her with you for a test drive at the Vet dealer. Choose a convertible let her drive it for a mile or two than put the top down and let her drive it back to the dealer and tell her how great she looks driveing it and how sexey she would look in a new Vet hair do. This will not work so buy it anyway than let her get over it. Ha Ha

I hope motorman will be kind enough to post the phone number for the local "Happy Endings Massage Parlor"!

;)

she knew i always wanted a vette

a good friend of mine called me up to take 1 for a test drive at the dealer he works at, before i could finish telling her about the test drive, she flew outside to see if i came home with it, when she saw it wasnt outside, she was highly against me getting 1. well 2 months later i went & got it & didnt tell her, she was pretty mad at first :mad , but now she's happy, she knew i always wanted 1, somehow everytime she talk on the phone, she always bring the vette up. i guess as long as im happy she's happy. :D

Alright! I've been lurking on the sidelines reading all the interesting posts that you guys make in regards to the new C6. But I have yet to read how some of you convinced your wives on going along with purchasing a new Corvette! I'd like to hear some suggestions/stories (especially the ones that worked!) from anyone out there. How long did it take? What method of persuasion? Etc. Thanks in advance!
Skip :D

Poor is the man who's pleasures depend on the permission of another.
Go buy it. What can she possibly do, leave? If she did you had no love anyway.

Easy; buy her one too.

LOL
Well I would hope that if my husband (even though I am not married) was going to purchase a 65k vehicle that it would warrant a discussion. If he buys it and she kicks him out, you can bet that will be the first thing she wants in the settlement - her value of the car. And does it work in reverse, say he spends 65k without talking about it, does she get to spend equally that much on something she wants??

I love the story about the C6 Christmas present!

Well my wife went to visit her sister and I went and bought my 93 coup. Lotsa words at differnet levels of of volume for a few days but in the end I still have the vette and she is still in the house. She said she would never get in that damn car and that works for me. Her loss.

I've had 4 Corvettes so far, about 15 years now.
Wife likes the things we do, trips we take, more than I do.
No prob getting another. Wife has never said anything to any of the toys I've bought, ever.
That includes 15 or so cars and over 200 motorcycles.
She's a keeper, lol

What he said. She can leave if she doesn't like it. The 06' Z06 will be here in April and it will be parked next to the ZX12R and the REV "X" snowmobile. If she doesn't like it, she can leave, I won't mind one bit. Actually, I'll leave and take the kids with me too!:L
