- 65 BB 502 Cp /MSD ATOMIC EFI/ 2009-HUMMER H2
One of the problems I had to work out when installing the 502 BB in my 65 Cp was.....Where do you mount the electric fuel pump? Since most all mfg's recomend mounting the electric fuel pump in the vertical posistion..so you are not an 85 MPH 20 gallon Nah-Pom Bomb. This was a real pain to find a pump and a place to locate it..... friendly to the fuel tank inlet...and outlet to the frame mounted fuel line.
I found that the Carter 7-9psi electric pump would fit the bill. That was the easy part. After banging my head for hours I finally came up with the idea in conjunction with Bill Bradley. Mount the pump on the outside of the frame rail behind the rear wheel inside fendor splash shild on the frame. Since I don't have under car exhaust ..mufflers are not and issue. The aera is easy to get to.
There is plenty of room to get your hand up in their to mount the pump as well as remove it for service and for the fuel lines to feed in and out. So that's where it ended up.
Then Bill thru a monkey wrench into the works when he said.....What happens if you get hit in that side? The pump is exposed siting on the frame. Enter Bill's next big idea... A Pump gaurd..!! Made out of 3/16" Cold Rolled steel. So I made a cardboard template and sent it to Bill.
Bill finished the design and thru his many contacs had it made. Check out this work of art. Powder Coated and All...!!! The large hole is where the bumper brace bolts goes thru to hold it against the frame. Notice how it is tapered to follow the frame line.
When I receive it next week... I'll mock it up and take some pic's to post here.
Thanks Bill....Nice work
