1982 Silver Coupe (Sold!), New C5 in 3 weeks!
Hi Guys,
I'm thinking about adding a Hypertech chip to my '82. Has anyone had any experience with this modification. And if so, will performance be more improved if used with other performance modifications.

Currently, my mods list goes like this...

Magnum Roller Rockers
K&N Filters
Modified "open air" air filters
NO EGR
NO AIR
NO AC
TCC lockup bypass
Davis Unified Ignition Coil, Cap and module.
Hooker Headers
NO CAT
True dual exhaust - straight through with minimal silencing

Can anyone estimate with the above mods mentioned, how much extra power a hypertech chip might gain???

Cheers

Don't know much about the Hypertech's advertised for C3's, but the Hypertech's for C4's are basically units that turn your fans on earlier and that's it.

I seriously doubt that Hypertech will give you any noticeable gains in performance. A generically burned chip like that which is mass sold and produced can't cover everyone's wants and desires in terms of performance. There are a lot of places that can do a better job of making a chip right for you.

The Hypertech chip will take care of 1-3 gear TCC lockup. As for gains from the chip its about a 50/50 yea-nea type thing from talking with other people that have them. How much gain if any-don't know.
