Hypertech Power Programmer

[LT4 Power]

This may be an old topic, but do the hypertech power programmers improve performance? I have the chance to pick one up for my LT4 at a low price, but I don't think it's the latest generation of programmers. Is it worth it?

if it is cheap, i would do it. It probably won't help performance that much, but it should help. it also allows you to change the temperature when the fans come on, and a few other things in case you modify more

I got one cheap also. Mostly just to change when the fans come on and bump up the rev limiter and top speed. I'll get the software for my laptop when I get serious about tuning the computer.

Hyper_Tech

I have used the Hyper-Tech on my 1996 LT4 Coupe and it did help with the 160 degree stat, but only a small H.P. gain as GM really did there homework on a stock LT4. My wife`s 1994 LT1 Trans Am REALLY gained some H.P. as the OBD1 was NOT tuned as good as the OBDII If you will use a air compressor and every month or so blow out all the crud that will be vacummed up in to the space infront of you radiator you will notice the LT4 will run a little cooler. I know of several people who had CUSTOM programming done with better results, but as I purchased both of my GM`s while they were still in warranty so I was able to reprogram back to stock if I had to take the car back to the GM dealer.
