Reciently my 92 has on occasion started to die when started. It will start ans then slowly drop rpm's untill it dies. I am thinking IAC as I han barely open the throttle and it idles fine. My question, how do you check the IAC and could some other component cause it to not function properly such as the opti?

I had similar problem with my 92. I was all set to remove the unit and clean it as I had been told that you have to do that. When I went to unplug the wires from IAC one of the wires came off in my hand. I fixed the wire in the connector. Plugged it back in reset the computer and she has run fine ever since. Sometimes you get lucky and the fix is something very simple.

I hate just changing parts and was concirned that possibly the opti was failing and was causing the problem with the iac
