I just got back from the Track. Previous best with 58mm Throttle Body, 44 psi fuel, BOSCH plugs, Bad Opti spark, No Ram Air and NITTO 555R, 315/35/17 DR, stock Tranny was 13.021 at 105.89. This was after I put the new heads, cam, intake, computer and 2800 Torque convertor on. I was a little upset, with the numbers.

Tonight witha 52MM throttle body, 46 psi Fuel, NGK plugs, good opti spark, Ram Air, B&M shift kit and BF Goodridge Comp TA R1, 275/45/17's (I got these from TrueDuals, we thought we could get about 3 passes on them, we were right) I turned a 12.799 at 107.14. That was with the worn 275's spining off the line and again when I hit second. The second and third runs kept getting worse, the tires spun all the way through 1st and a little in second. I turned a 13.176 at 106.37 and the last run was 13.186 at 107.86. I finally gave up, before the tires blew. Once I get the 315/35/17 NITTO's back on and I get the launch down I should be about 12.5 or better.

The Ricer that was talking crap about Vettes a couple of weeks ago was there. He ran a 13.5 at 100. I just waved when he went by.:w

Hey Marine...

Congrats! Glad to see you got her running. Persistance pays off.

Thanks Eagle 85C4, I thought I was going to take a shotgun to her a couple of times. I think I can milk about another 3-4 tenths out of her.

Congrats UB2 SLOW

Congrats my friend.
what do you think was the best modifications that you made since your last disappointed on the track? What are your opinions on the spark plugs replacement. I run NGK in all of my vehicles and I have been super satisfied. In any case, super congrats!!!

:) :) :)

If the weather holds, I will be hitting the 1/4mile in my 90 minram motor Saturday. I will be bolting on some worn out (actually poor condition) BFG 16" 255 50 on 1985 rims.

I hope for mid low 13's on my passes being the first time ever running this car through the 1/4 (six speed, clutch, shift issues). I would hope being able to stab the 12's after getting use to it and hoping for some traction.

Congrats on the 12's. Any street car that can maintain cold a/c, air bags, big stereo, nice wheels, etc. etc, AND run in the 12's is a major accomplishment. Anybody can strip a car to the bare bones, slap a 7,000 RPM cam and heads on, and go faster, but in the end what have you got?

A fast car?:L :L :L

Chris,

I read in your other post with Ken's monster on the dyno: you said that playing with the timing gave Ken an extra 50 horses. So if UB tinkered with the timing, he could shave those desired tenths off his time right?

Exactly, ....except with the advent of opti spark, you can only adjust the timing by impregnating the computer program with a different command. So, he has little to nothing he can do on the fly to explore a different spark curve.

In Ken's case, we are talking a timing difference of no more than 10 degrees base that made that HUGE difference. One reason why I prefer a L98 platform when it comes to tinkering.

I keep reading about the opti's going bad. Did GM do anything in the later years of the LT1 to solve this problem?

Vettelt193, 69MyWay and everyone else, thanks for all of help and advice. T

Edmond, the opti was vented in 96. It was suppose to cure some of the problems with the 94-95 Opti. What really pi$$ed me off was I had a new opti in the car that went bad aftet about 50 mile.

Fiddler, I would have to say Gears, Torque Convertor and shift kit were the best mods. The Gears are the best ones overall. Those 3 mods are cheap and easy.

I'm not sure about seeing a 12.79 with my tires but I'm willing to give it a shot

TruDuals, The tires worked good for the first pass. The passes after that, I could not hook up until 2nd gear. I pretty much melted what was left of the rubber right off. Thanks again for the tires and rims. I plan on getting my NITTO's put on the other two rims this weekend.

Yeah, they stopped producing the LT1 in 1997 :L

Good times..

I ran best of 12.74 @ 110.12 on Sunday with my 60' at 1.92

I still have more in mine somewhere I just need to find it.

Jeff, great run. I hope to get my trap speed a little higher next thursday. I am looking for 3-4 more tenths, of course I am always looking for a few more tenths. I would strap a blender on my motor if it would give me a couple of tenths.

We may be making close to the same power too..

I was getting about 3 MPH more by having a manual as opposed to your auto.

Jeff, What was your last dyno results. I plan on going this weekend.

Well the last dyno results I have are 301RWHP and 340RWTQ.

BUT,

this was with my old MAF set-up in my vette, I ran a best then of 12.82@109

Since then I changed the ECM to the Speed Density System from a 91 and have not Dyno'ed since

Dyno Graph

My last dyno results were 301hp and 300tq at the wheels. The local dyno guru is having a special tomorrow. 4 pulls for $50. As soon as I get off work I am going.
