I removed the carb on my '67 to replace the gasket between it and the manifold. (small gas leak)
While the carb was off, I decided to do a little cleanning.

I got the old de-greaser out and sprayed the manifold, used a wire brush and just wiped it off. It looks great!

Now for the boo-boo.
I noticed that the clamp that holds the hose from the radiator to the expansion tank was a little rusted.
So I decided to replace it. I loosened it and jiggled the hose gently (I thought) to pull it free.
Two thirds of the nipple that it attaches to broke off in the hose.
I re-attached the hose to the remaining part with a brand new shiney clamp.

Will this be enough to hold it?

Is there a fix for this other than a brand new radiator? It currently has a Harris aluminum.

It turns out that the new carb gasket is an incorrect one and I didn't have the time to drive out to the next closest store so I haven't been able to start the car.

Your feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,
Pedro

Sorry pedro my car doesnt have the exspantion tank so I am not following you,I wish I could help,

But I am also confused on your carb gasket if it was bad you would have a vacum leak not a fuel leak unless there was a problem with the carb it self where was the gas coming from and when did it leak when the car was off or when it was running?

Sorry I could not meet up with you when we were in florida.I love your state the weather was very kind to us and we had a spectaculor time I cant wait to return

As long as there was enough "stub" left to get the clamp around and fully seated, it shouldn't be a problem. At least it didn't break off flush with the radiator, that would have been my luck!

Larry,
The gas would show up on the passenger side of the manifold.
When I removed the gasket, it was apparently damaged on the carb side, but some residue was stuck on the manifold and on the bottom of the carb. I carefully scraped it off.

I'm not sure if it happened/leaked when running or off.

The only place that I can see some gas stain is on the front/top of the carb.

Hey, I'm glad you had a good time in Florida.

Thanks,

MidShark,
Those are the words I was hoping to hear...thanks.

Nice cars...great name.
It must be a combination of both your cars.

Great choice of vettes. I love the Sharks.

Thanks again,

Pedro

Oops!
Just noticed you have three vettes!
Enjoy! :beer
