took tt out after 6weeks of non use. drove around for 1/2 hr. later under slow accelleration to 4,000 rpm in fourth gear i heard a muffled poof, pop like sound. all gages read fine and i took foot off the gas. since then everytime i take foot off of the gas i hear a slighter poof, poping sound. sounds almost like a very soft series of backfire's. callaway said one reason could be a loose clamp from intercoolers to turbos. brought car to local garage and all three were tight. they did notice a little blackening (small exhaust leak) at rear of one cataletic converter where it connects to rear exhaust. the sound seems to be centrally located, but hard to tell. callaway said not to go into boost because may hurt turbo, not knowing the problem. i have a sevice appointment with callaway and they appear to suggest not to drive the 50 miles. car starts fine, all guages normal. going into boost is one way to find out for sure but do not want to make a small problem, if turbo related, a big one. adivce????

...my advice, go with your gut feeling and not drive it - you are close enough that an AAA Plus flatbed (w/in 100 miles) is free - let Wayne go over the car, hopefully the problem is minor -

I agree with Chris, when first reading I figured it was the intercooler as well. If you don't have AAA Plus sign up for it and then get the car towed.

With a normal car I would say it runs to rich...
But with the TPI more likely running on the poor side (with the O2 and ECM) this is a good question. Maybe your O2 needs to be replaced?

local dealer said?????????

its the injectors, 6 of 8 bad. i went for test drive with mechanic and it was misfiring under load. turbo boost and all are fine. not a turbo problem he said.
inactivity, gas siiting in car could case. i call today and says have to buy 6 new inject0rs its electrical on them. i am confused, does not sound right "electrical"
advice?????????????

Sounds more like leaky injectors to me, which is common on aged factory injectors. Do yourself a favor, don't replace just 6, replace all of them.

I fully second that!

two cents that maybe won't be worth that... I bought replacement injectors from a Delphi dealer for significantly less than a GM dealer. They were also cheaper than the online discount GM parts dealers too, though not by as much, but I could pick them up locally.
