Gotta question! And I Would greatly appreciate the advice. I have a 95, c4 83k on it, runs great. the only problem is, service asr light is on always, no matter what and the ABS light is always on, and the antilock brakes are not active, also the cruise does not work. but the fuse is ok. Basicly driving it is great, just feels like the antilock brakes are off. and the Brake fluid is toped off. Should I just drive it like it is? It doesn't bother me at all, the performance is great, and it idol's fine. what do ya'll think I should do? Thanks!!!Bill ,sticks5a@yahoo.com

:thumbDo the paper clip thing and check for codes. There are several things that can cause the lights. Invest in a service manual, you will be glad you did. Oh yea, It is probably not running anywhere near its full potential. Disconnect your negative battery cable and clean your grounds first. Especially the one above the oil filter and on the bell housing. There are several guys here who will help walk you through the process. Just went through almost the same issues with my 92. Ended up being the ECM and bad cats. Good luck and be patient.

Thanks Very much!!!! I'll Little by little figure it out, Bill

Brake switch kills cruise, and I'm guessin' the brake switch and ABrakeS system aren't too far removed from each other in the diags flow chart. Strange that 'SYS' isn't lit up in the speedo LED cluster tho'...

I can give this a gander in the am here.

Welcome onto the boards there.

Thank you much, I'm new to the corvette club, but a good shadetree. I'll check all of these things. thanks again,Bill

My guess is you have 1 or more speed sensor problems!! C4 rears are bad the get brake dust and shavings covering the relucter rings on the axle and the sensor can't read them!!:thumb:thumb:thumb

First you can have codes pulled for free at Advance Auto Parts Store.

Next check the vacuum valve on the right side of engine under the fuel rail cover. Go to this Flickr photo

This valve controls the cruise and the heater air conditioner controls.

Hey, Thanks so much! I thought about it yesterday , I have a 2001 Tahoe, with almost the exact same problem my vette has, except, the cruise still works on the Tahoe. But no abs (antilocks don't work) and no asr (traction) Acceleration slip regulator, Two Chevys, Wonder what's up with that? thanks Again, Bill

Oh well. . .

You might be able to buy a serial or USB hardwire interface to plug in your laptop to the ALDL connector. Some software is open source (free), and some can be pricey. If you're in software development, you're home free uh huh...

Pricey software is pricey ONCE. Dealer's interface is pricey EVERY time.

Do the math...

Cruise diag chart very first question: "Is ASR diags lit up? If so, do not do this diagnostic sequence".

It's not my first day ;)

(for '94):

Do you have DTC 57? Do complete paper clip read as vetteoz described (good link, BTW! :thumb )

Thanks John, for your time and answer, you were right on the money!!! YEA!!!! The part was $2.75 at the dealer couldn't believe it. Cruise works great now, and the air con stays out of the vents and doesn't go to the defrost when I give it a little accelleration. I haven't tryed the heat yet, but my guess is, it will work fine!! thanks so much!!! Bill
