Oh, and another 'first' today -- even though I have been paying attention to learning the car, trying to vary RPM/load to break it in nicely, while being careful of traffic -- in other words, I feel pretty busy when I am driving right now, but I am still trying to manage to keep an eye out for any fellow 'vette pilots I might wander into... a blue C5 Z06 overtook me while I was just cruising in middle lane on 595 around the airport area today -- I made sure to give him a wave as he came alongside, and it was returned -- nice car!
Amazing that the engine is only doing about 1200 RPM at 60-something MPH when I dropped it into sixth gear for a bit (but I'm trying to avoid lugging).
Oh, and @#%^^!@@$#&%$ CAGS is getting me left and right; maybe 7 times in two hours of split hiway/city driving today. I guess in my current driving mode, I am being pretty gentle, so just matching it's parameters. I hate it, and need to install my eliminator! I can easily keep it from coming in when I think about it, but I don't want to permanently alter my (I consider good) habits of taking it pretty easy off the line 95% of time (let's not ask about the other 5%) :L
Funny, when the CAGs did drop in, and I did let it go to fourth instead of just swinging it from neutral to second, I ocaisionally absentmindedly ended up in third at the light... so when the light changed, I slipped the clutch as usual to start out (clutch is easy to apply, very good feel, I haven't stalled once, even on nervous first take-off from dealer), I noticed I was in third, not first, but of course, no panic at all with this much torque on hand -- I just stayed at friction point a bit longer, step in a tiny bit more throttle -- heck, a person could easily drive in nothing but third for a lot of time! (Not that I would, of course.)
