Yes, its in. Yea!! Went to see it. I will pick it up they will do no prep other than mechanical. It came without the second top however I paid for it. They tell me it will be ordered and give to me when it comes in. Look very cool, its the fist one delivered to this dealer. Its Silver with black interior. Looking forward to driving it home tomorrow.

Shopman, I am new here, and picking up a Silver/Ebony 1LT MN6 tomorrow myself!

I didn't take note of your original post's date at first, so I wrote some silly stuff about 'twins', but am now editing it out, since I see you have now had your ride already for a long time -- anyhow, hope you are enjoying your new wheels...!

Damn, those are nice! That's the best color combo I've seen yet, and I'm not being partial. I fell in love with one that I saw here in MA not that long ago.

Well, I would like to think I am being impartial and objective when I say it is the best combo, but it's all personal choice, and ...ahem... my last car (Boxster) was Silver/black, too, so maybe I'm biased ... :L

Best Deal

Boatman, my best "deal" on price was clearly with one of the acknowledged internet guys, but I hadn't been able to close an actual deal without complications on delivery/travel/distance, that made it too dicey for me.

What I have been doing is going to GMBuypower every few days and typing in my 'wish list' --

2006
Silver
Ebony
MN6
1LT
No XM
No nav
No polished wheels
No clear top
No dealer installed accessories

And very rarely to I find an exact match. Dealers love to move heavily optioned cars and it seems people want them, so who am I to complain... but that makes it very hard for me to find the one I wanted...

Anyway, a couple of days ago my search returned just one result, and it was for Maroone, just a few miles away. I asked for quote, and they made me a very good offer, especially with no travel/delivery/worries about a deal dropping through after getting far from home. Let me know if you want salesman name/contact info. I had given up on Maroone due to ongoing massive markup on Z06s (20K still today on three in showroom), but the guy I dealt with explained that as long as the money is coming, they just can't say no... I told him we would just have to agree to disagree - I would hate to go to Walmart and find local generator prices went through the roof, even though mfg wanted (and priced them) at a certain MSRP that brought me into the store.

Anyway, I told him to keep me in mind for trade-in if they ever get to MSRP or below, and I have a feeling he will.

Got one reasonable photo from tonight... will do more in daylight hours!

I am loving it!

Thanks for the info. I have to believe that the ZO6 may get down to MSRP within 6 months. I did not like the new C6 on intro. More I look at it, better it looks. Thanks for the update on the GM site.

I will be tracking Z06 prices as they change, but I am already starting to love taking the top off...

and quiet ride in regular C6...

and saving between 30-50 G's cash...

and adding this car only made my total insurance bill go up $662/yr...

:L

As far as appearance, here are some pictures I took today after baby's first bath... (if you want to see them at full res, you will want to open in a browser. Viewing them native on web page scales them to be smaller, and you lose some detail...this is a template-driven site, so I don't know how to keep it from rescaling.

Oh, and another 'first' today -- even though I have been paying attention to learning the car, trying to vary RPM/load to break it in nicely, while being careful of traffic -- in other words, I feel pretty busy when I am driving right now, but I am still trying to manage to keep an eye out for any fellow 'vette pilots I might wander into... a blue C5 Z06 overtook me while I was just cruising in middle lane on 595 around the airport area today -- I made sure to give him a wave as he came alongside, and it was returned -- nice car!:w

Amazing that the engine is only doing about 1200 RPM at 60-something MPH when I dropped it into sixth gear for a bit (but I'm trying to avoid lugging).

Oh, and @#%^^!@@$#&%$ CAGS is getting me left and right; maybe 7 times in two hours of split hiway/city driving today. I guess in my current driving mode, I am being pretty gentle, so just matching it's parameters. I hate it, and need to install my eliminator! I can easily keep it from coming in when I think about it, but I don't want to permanently alter my (I consider good) habits of taking it pretty easy off the line 95% of time (let's not ask about the other 5%) :L

Funny, when the CAGs did drop in, and I did let it go to fourth instead of just swinging it from neutral to second, I ocaisionally absentmindedly ended up in third at the light... so when the light changed, I slipped the clutch as usual to start out (clutch is easy to apply, very good feel, I haven't stalled once, even on nervous first take-off from dealer), I noticed I was in third, not first, but of course, no panic at all with this much torque on hand -- I just stayed at friction point a bit longer, step in a tiny bit more throttle -- heck, a person could easily drive in nothing but third for a lot of time! (Not that I would, of course.)

You should give me a call I have many inbound cars and can tell you where the car you want is at.
