1966,and a 1962 thats almost complete
Well it was a real long weekend but I was able to get the car running.

No major problems,Just alot of time.

We did not have the mufflers on but by this coming week end I should have them on.

My brother innlaw stopped over to help out on both days ,He arrived 10 am on Saturday because he knew I had planned on getting the motor running and fealt if he did not show up I would have worked thru the night to meet my goal of having the motor fired up by tonight.

I am happy as a clam about this, now all I need is my drive shaft to ba able to drive it
I had a couple of vistors today and one of them I suggested that he stop in at the corvette action center and say hello. I hope he stops in

This is a link to a video I took today .It takes a while to load

http://www.yellowcorvettes.com/new%20kitty%20025.mpg

I am the fellow throwing the switch and my brother in law is the one leaning over the car.

A special thanks to 67 heaven for showing me how to link to it.

I am going to have to edit the video to make it shorter as its takes forever to load

Wow, does that sound healthy! What are you gonna use for a hood? Really a clean looking 62. Wear it in good health.

Congrats, Larry!! She looks & sounds awesome!!

Just call me jealous!! Congrats on your hard work and dedication. That is my favorite year of Vette and I loved listening to that monster motor. Now go have a beer or two.:beer

Larry:
Congratulations on a successful startup. I hope I can get mine cranked up in a few weeks. Hope to see you and your car in Carlisle. Exactly what switch are you throwing over there on the right side of your car? How did you convert your video to MPG format?
Charles

Larry,

Congrats on the fireing,

The car looks like you are getting real close to being able to go for a shakedown cruise.

Thanks every one for the kind comments. I really still have a long way to go but I see the end in sight.

it was very exciting to hear it come back to life after all of this time.My poor wife, we had a small flame lick out of one of the headers and my wife just seen a ball of flames and thought the entire car was on fire.Normally she is always steady as the rock of gilbralter ,but this frazzeled her,

I was thrilled that we had no leaks,as some of the componets are layered in place ,meaning if I had a power steering line leak the entire front of the motor would have to be un-installed.I have done all I could to try and make everything serviceable but I am just running out of room for stuff.

As always I have to thank John McGraw.I was having problems figuring out where to place the power steering resivour And John was sharing some photos on how he piped his unit in and I just copied the location of where he put his.

I am going to take a stock hood I have and just cut a hole in it and then bolt on an aftermarket scoop for carlilse. I have a 67 big block skin I am going to graft onto a 62 hood frame but for carlile I will be running a simple hood scoop (probably off of a doge ram)

The video you see was taken by a Sony digital camera,Not a video camera but a regular digital still camera that has vid capabilities.I didnot have to convert anything i just used office front page to put that vid on my web site and 67heaven showed me what link to use.

As for the switch .I am still laying out my wiring harness and I just created a little switch board on the passenger side to run the motor,Each time I say I am done adding wires to the harness and get ready to tape the harness up I realize what I have forgotten, I was holding out on taping up the harness because i am still waiting on a web based gps enabled tracing system for the car,But at this point if I dont get it by wensday i have to seal up the harnes so I can start installing the interiour.

When I get the tracker i just make a seperate harness for it

Thanks Again ever one for the generour words.

Larry, the car looks fabulous, and sounds even better - great video! Nothing like the first-fire to get your adrenaline pumping! :D

Just curious, I am in NoCal with a similar 59 "hybrid" project, and was wondering what state you live in? One can never have enough contacts.

Larry, Congrats on the startup! I am still downloading the clip and I can't wait to watch it!

Larry, that is one of coolest, cleanest cars out there. Put together in record time too!

Larry,
It's a monster. Beautiful car. First fire must have been a real rush. Time to change its description under your "My Corvettes" tag - from "1962 needing lots of work" to "1962 showing lots of work".

I could imagine your poor wife turning to you in panic and then calming instantly after seeing you with a grin from ear to ear!:D . Congratulations Larry, it must feel so good to you to get to this point and finally hear it. Makes all those long days and nights seem worth while doesn't it. It sure has been a roller coaster ride for you between the paint then the engine set back but boy did you bounce back with a vengence! Yeh, still a lot to do but what a fantastic milestone to reach!

It really is great to see all you guys getting to your fire ups and the speed and quality of your workmanship is just amazing. Once again thank you so much for the pics and progress reports so we can follow the restoration with you. It's the next best thing to being there with you and we certainly are grateful to share in your excitement and celebrate with you. Cant' wait to see you and your vette this month.
Cheers:beer

I live in New York about 40 minutes north of N.Y.C.

I have been planning this car for a long time and actually was purchasing parts for it prior to even owning the frame or the car.If I had to try and pay for this all in one year it would have been a big strain on the wallet.

There are several other forum members building cars like this.

John McGraw http://www.villagephotos.com/pubgallery.asp?id_=339303

John Has BLAZED the way for me. he allready had sources and solutions to problems I did not even know I would have.

Cberhart http://www.carols62.com/ Charles is building a 59 also. His website is very interesting.

Vette he is building a 61 tupe framed car with an lt1 motor

wes and some other ,I would say if your building a restomod or hybrid car what ever you want to call it this is the forum to gather some valuble information from ,

Good luck and Ill speak to you

Larry,

Congratulations on getting the 62 fired up! It sounds great and we'll look forward to seeing it in person. Take care and best of luck with the remainder of the project.

Congrats Larry!
It allways feels good to hear one come to life for the first time! I wish I was able to see all of y'all in Carlisle.

Regards, John McGraw
