First of all I don't have the key fob. I was inside my car with doors closed and windows up, the passenger side was locked. I was attempting to unlock it with the driver side control and was then going to get out and clean the passenger window. I'm not sure if instead of unlocking it I locked both doors. I tried to open the driver's door to get out and it wouldn't open (even when I slid the lever to unlock). I started pushing against the door to see if it was stuck and then the horn alarm started going off. My wife finally came out and unlocked it with the key. Can anyone please tell me what happened or what I did wrong? BTW it was getting awfully hot in there.

Doesn't sound too "lucky"! HAH! Sorry, I just couldn't help that...
Not sure what the problem was but could you have reset everything with the ignition key off/on?
Occasionally mine will start honking and act up a bit and I have to use the door key to shut it up mainly after I wash it. Just washed yours by any chance?

Uuummm...

You didn't name your 'vette "Christine" by any chance, did you?

What a scary thing to happen. What if no one had been around to let you out, with temps rising inside! :eek
Keep the keys on you every time you're around your vette until you find out what happened.

pop the top.
If all else failed, sure beats dieing inside the car !

Something like this happened to me on a really cold morning in a new Fiat Stilo. I entered the car and closed the door. Minute later my father wanted to open the door on the passenger side, but the door handle was loose (it stayed in the position where he pulled it). At that moment I could not open the door from the inside neither on my, nor on the passenger side. So he had to enter through the window (power windows were still working…).. :confused :t
After a half an hour drive when the sun went up and the car got warm, all started working properly. A really safe family car. :L
At least it wasn't hot in there. Be safe :)

Saw your post on the Corvette Forum......was unbelieveable.....but I guess it could happen......you used a different handle on the FORUM........
Anyway did you get out of the car/vette?????????????

Yes I got out. My wife heard the horn and came out with the keys.

Well I still don't know what happened but at least everyone got a good laugh over it...........:J :J :J :L :L :L

I too have been locked inside but luckily with my keys. For some reason, I have a very short time period in which to get in the car, get the key into the ignition, position the seat (I have short legs), and start her before she sets the alarm. Once the alarm is set if I do anything but remove the key from the ignition, reinsert it and start the car the alarm goes off.

These cars are very temperamental. I always wonder what the surprise will be today! Love her anyway.

What happened? well when you use the locks (electric) it arms the system when the door closes it's set, disables the inside & outside handles, and sets off the alarm if the release is pushed inside! you need the key in the outside lock or the fob to shut it down. It's real easy to do! I did it the first time by reaching in the open window for the lock button instead of using my key.
You can arm the system with the window down. It'll give you a little security. & let the car stay cooler (in the sun) and still defeat the starter if someone tries to steal it.
