Take another look at the build code, it seems to be incomplete.
I suspect it should be something like T03I*HF, where I represents a 1

T = Tonawanda plant
VIN derative 18D is probably 1968
HF for 68 is 275 HP 327, 4 bbl, turbohydromatic

Casting number 660 would work for 68 passenger, chevelle, nova, camaro

What is the casting date on the block?

It came out of a '68 Caprice built at Doraville, Georgia. "T03THF" is not the pad stamp - it's incomplete - it will be a "T", followed by four numbers (two for the month, two for the day), followed by two letters (the suffix code). :)

Help me verify this block

My uncle gave me a 49 chevy truck that my father owned and said it has a corvette 327 in it here is the info i have on it please help;help

block cast number: 3782870
PAD stamp: FI022S
bell housing passenger: J172
tranny is a powerglide

I wanna sell it cuz i have a big block to stuff in it and if it truly is a vette motor I'm sure somebody would be interested it.

I believe the "S" suffix is for a full size passenger car.

The block was cast Oct 17, 1962 and was built Oct 22, 1972.
The last 62 Corvette was built in August of 62.

Update

Thanks for the response, here's what I have found to bounce of what you wrote: corrections and constructive critisizm welcome :)

block cast number: 3782870 = 1962
PAD stamp: FI022S = Flint OCT 22 PowerGlide
bell housing passenger: J172 = Oct 17, 1962
tranny is a powerglide
head numbers: 64 = ?
3782461 = 327ci 300hp, 340hp, 360hp
A185 = ?
I'm guessing that it was a 1962 corvette with 327ci 300hp automatic by using the corvette action center guide. Other guides on the net conflict each other and I assume this is a reputable site for correct information.

I'm hard to believe that is not a vette motor, I trust my uncle's word but understand that there's always is the possibility of being fooled. All he claims to know for sure is that it is a vette motor not sure year etc. I can look more for other stamps etc its here in my garage.

The "S" suffix on the machine stamp says it was originally installed in a 1963 full-size 250hp Powerglide passenger car; all Corvette engines used a 2-character suffix code, passenger cars only used one character.

If the 461 heads show an A 18 5 (January 18, 1965) casting date, they weren't "born" on that October, 1962 block.

The block is from a '63 passenger car, and the heads were replaced at some point in time.

So are the heads off of a corvette or where those heads used on other vehicles also?

Thanks

shucks, suppose its not worth much so no use hanging on to it I'll sell it to my buddy thanks for the helpful info :)
