idle screws inop

Just a thought- do you have an electrical solenoid that opens the carb slightly whenever the key is 'on'?

If so, the idle speed is adjusted by turning the solenoid shaft, not the carb screw.

If that be the case, then either the well plugs are leaking, the float is set too high,or the float is gas logged!!:thumb:thumb:thumb

these are what i was thinking when i completely closed the throttle plate and the car was still running.

i dont have a clue where the float adjustment on a qjet is.
holley no problem
qjet i will take it to someone.

There is no external adjustment screw on the Q-jets.
There is a tang on the float that must be bent to be adjusted with the top plate off the carb.
If you get a rebuild kit for it, there will be a setup guage included with instructions on how the float height should be set.
