I'm going to try to start getting the trans back in if I feel up to it tonight..
I guess I knew I was going to get the stomach flu.. atleast i got the rest of the day off.. Trans install postponed till I fill better.. Excuse me... :puke

Hmm.. thats almost the same color.. damm pasta.. puke it up through my eyeballs..

HMM!!!!

Kinda argivated.. I finally start feeling better and I started bolting up my trans went to put the converter bolts on and for some reason neither the old or new converter converter bolts are working right.. (nice wording) anyway I am shure I ran the oneof the new ones into the threads before I starting putting the trans in.. and it seemed fine it seems like the new ones are to short or something.. anyone else run into any problems with installing a Percision Industries Vigilante? Also is there anything special about converter bolts I'm thinking of getting some slightly longer ones to try.. everything seemed to gotogether and into place just fine except this... WPITA!

N/M i want that last comment off the records.. LoL I thought the stock bolts were not working out because i thought there were cross threading in the hole.. but I found out it was just because of the paint on the threads.. so I re used the stock bolts because they were a hair longer then the new ones.. seems like everything is AG again.. anyway.. I'm taking a break hopefully i can get everything installed up to the point where I need to install the cats which I need to take my gutted ones to the shop and remove the damaged studs from them and swap one over anong with the bracket for the left side cat.. Thanks again to Vettn94 (Nick) for the good deal on the gutted cats.. anyway I'm hoping this trans job works out and that it lasts longer then the previous trans rebuild.. as always I'll keep you all posted..

I actually accomplished a bit tonight..

anyhow... I got the trans bolted in just need to tighten the support member bolts up and the drive shaftbolts mount the shift cable back up and reinstall the cats and exhuast.. then we can see if it's going to shift or not.. hopefully it will all work out.. would like to test drive it before the salt is laid out.. anyway pretty clost to tieing up this project atleast the trans anyhow.. just as long as it is sucessful and I don't have to pull the trans for a long time I will be happy.. we'll find out tomarrow after i goto my shop and get my cat bolts and 02's swapped using the flaming wrench... and after i pick up some more trans fluid..

must sleep...

Woke up started working on it.. still need to finsh bolting up the cats.. got one on.. didn't have to goto the shop.. i was able to get the o2's free with my little propane torch.. anyhow.. tested the trans on the stands its shifting good.. can't tell how hard it will shift till I can road test it.. but it's a good sign.. will post later today after I finish bolting up the exhaust and stuff how everything went after the road test..

Rick, When we did mine the car was on a lift so maybe it was a little easier to line up the bolts/threads ? Didn't have too much trouble. Hardest part is turning the flywheel and aligning the holes.
We just re-used the stock bolts, they should be fine.
Only thing I know you want to be careful of with converter bolts if replacing the stock ones is you want grade 8. I think you are better off just re-using the stock ones like you did.
I also changed my O2's when I put the headers in back in July, they came out fairly easy with a wrench/o2 socket.
Looks like the cold weather is back, good luck trying to get it out for a test drive.

Drop me an email after you do and let me know how it all turns out.

WOW WOW WOW!!!!!

I am so HAPPY! shifts very nice.. spins em much much better.. shifts nice.. just need to get everything else buttoned up with the gauges and neon.. and reprogram the pcm for the speedo change.. Whoo wHoooooo

Forgot to mention, And thanks again Nick for the gutted cats.. IT SOUNDS SO MUCH BETTER!!! I am really supprised I think i won't be buying a new exhaust system for a long time now I am basically running with true duals with no cats or resonator.. sounds great and didn't cost alot.. defintely happy with the way it shifts and everything.. grabs second quite nicely..

Here is a pic taken right after my road test..
garage.jpg

The top of the windshield has Fear this on both sides of the American Flag...

Hope fully this time I mastered it.. this summer I am probably rebuilding a buddys trans out of an 87 trans am it will be going in another friends 85 Z28.. that will be fun..

Great news.

That blue color looks sweet on those chrome rims.

So what is the next project?
Trying to pay off the remainder of the loan 7600$ LoL
next will be buying a laptop and lt1edit.. so I can reprogram the speedo.. I'm thinking of getting a green wood wing/spolier for it..
and oneday maybe a set of 3.73's or something.. the acceleration has improved so much I don't think i need them for a while.. Thanks again to Wookiebear for the great deal on the diff.. when I do decide to upgrade from the 3.07's I have my original 2.59 case to put them in.. I also am very content with the exhaust now.. just putting on the gutted cats has made a difference... In sound mainly i haveno way to back it up but I may have lost a little low end torque but the gear compensates for that big time..
it's hard to tell but I get rubber in seconds because one it's cold and 2 my tires don't make alot of noise.. at a stop light lauch when they spin you just hear whirrr.. kinda not really any chirping once in a while you might if the terrain changes that it's spinning accross.. my trans grabs 2nd quick and firm.. kind has it's own sound... I'm glad I put the kevlar band in too..

in the imidiate future though i must finish my wiring projects for the gauges and neon.. also I may have to mount the neon better.. with all the firmness of the suspension they came loose...

Well I'm off to the shop i have a week off.. but I need to work on my sisters car and I think I'll do a motor vac (fuel system cleaning) to mine help clean out the carbonics.. LoL
