If You've Changed Your Fuel Filter? And Wrench Size?

I'll probably be changing the FUEL FILTER on my '94 this weekend. Is it
totally necessary to have the Vette on 4 stands or can that side of the
car be tilted up — say at a 45 degree angle? Also, I purchased an
after-market FUEL FILTER from Advanced Auto, but could not find a
WRENCH that would snug-up to the hex head on the filter properly —metric or our more common unit. (forgive my sudden memory lapse—I can't remember what our unit of measure is called). The 13/16ths was
a little TOO LARGE and the 18mm TOO SMALL. And I was at SEARS "for
crying out loud". I ended up buying a good Sears "monkey" wrench for
the hex heads on the filter. I will definetly use "line wrenches" for the
fuel lines themselves. Anybody know what size wrench fits this odd
size hex nut on the fuel filter? THANKS

I was thinking it was 18mm, I nearly bought an 18mm "crowfoot" line wrench to do mine but then I found another way to do it..

Fiqured I'd throw this at you...Mine's a 93, I guess they are close. I loosened the fuel lines in the engine compartment and also the clamps under the rocker panels to free the lines up as much as possible so I had more room to work under the lifted side of the car. I do remember using fuel line wrenches and had to be very careful of the small orings on the fuel fittings as you pull them out of the old filter. Hope it helps.
Also...get the fuel tank as low as you can otherwise fuel runs all over your arm...that blows!

..... and what way was that?

I loosened the clamps on the fuel line all the way back toward the tank. Then I removed the lower (inlet side line) and removed the filter clamp, let the car down (I have a lift) and then loosened the clamp up near the HVAC unit under the hood and pulled the filter (still attached to the outlet line) up through into the engine compartment and changed the filter and then stuck it back down where it goes and attached the clamp and the inlet side. Much easier than trying to fight it from the bottom.
