ok guy's money is no option

im goin to build it my self though
my dad knows how to build a engine he just doesn't know what I need to buy for the best horsepower.

ok,, does 383' fit good inside a corvette
if so,, thats what i want to do
want to get as much horses and i want mini ram on it
is it cheaper to buy a engine then to build it my self?
give me some websites
after i build this im putting super charger on it and NOS

but right now engine is first this is going in my 85 corvette it has a 350 L98 right now

next question if i rebuilt my 350 putting all better stuff in it not including mini ram, what is the most horse power can i get out of it,,,, is 383 the best way to go

i know there is a 85 engine build project thread

but it doens't give me any infromation

i need to know exacty what to buy,,
i got the tpis catalog

first someone list everything i need
i need the block and all 383

i have a auto tranny forgot ot mention that

maybe this si to big of a project for me
maybe i should forget about it,, i have the will power to do it, and all the tools to do it with,, even a car lift

if u all help me build it,,, i will photo graft every time i add somethin ot the engine,, hehe.. we can all build it together

i get 512 a week so the engine should go pretty fast

maybe i should stick with the 350

i just want at least 400 horses

can i do this with my L98

id be happy with 350
but i don't want it to include the mini ram
im trying to top my car at around 600 to 700 horses with super charger and nos,, and mini ram,, id get pretty close and little mods around the engine

since im putting in a super charger is there really a point in me puttin gin a 383, and if i put a 383 in will a super charger fit with out cutting into my hood
i know ATI makes super chargers that fits vetts perfectly
so i think i will stay with a 350, if i can get at least 350 horses
plus building this engine will be alot easier for me,, don't u think?

yeah, you guy's are right, building a engine u change your mind so many times

i really want to stick with the 350 to much to deal with putting in a changing the block.
i just need to know how many horses can i get out of it.
the engine needs to be built to with stand NOS

Learn to work on what you have first.

By reading your past posts, it seems to me that you don't have a lot of experience with maintaining your existing engine.

Why would you want to go out and spend Thousands of dollars on a new motor that you won't know how to work on either?

You've got a good building block in the 350. Learn everything you can about the 85 350 and make it perform the best it can. The experience you gain doing this is worth allot more than an new motor.

Remember, High horsepower motors don't make very good daily drivers.

Invest your money in a good service manual for your car and other books that tell you how to maintain your engine and tune for performance.

Just My Humble Opinion.

Shadowing1985v,

Whoaaaa young jedi... one step at a time.

You posted 4 times in this thread within about 40 minutes..

Try using the "Search" feature we offer here and look up things like "Engine", "Building an Engine", "HP" also take a look at Ken's engine project thread.

Age has it's wisdom, one can't have 30 years of experience at 20 ;) , a sponge doesn't instantly absorb water.. Time young Jedi is on your side..

Bud I agree just buy a crate engine and enjoy putting that together. If anything happens your not covered under warranty and your out ALOT of money, this way you have a little protection.

Heres what I would do IF like you say money was no option.

385 Fastburn w/ Vortec Heads ( 350 CUI )
TPiS MiniRam
58mm Throttle Body (Holley/TPiS)
Larger Injectors ( 32 Psi?)
Lingenfelter/TPiS/Hooker Headers.
Be Cool Radiator
Procharger w/ Intercooler
TPiS Custom PROM
Centerforce Clutch (1,2,DC)
Different Transmission (Richmond 6 speed?)
3.55 or 3.73 Rear end

Just a little bit of package there, but Id say you would have your hands FULL just putting that together let alone doing the interior engine. With a setup like that you'd be envy of the road.

Good Luck

yeah, i think i have decided

im going to valve adjust my car the right way
and just slap the super charge on it,

cause im goin ot be working to much now to have the time to do much to the engine

Horsepower wasted?

So shadow...How are you going to get all of that horsepower to the ground??...The Dana rear end and the axle shafts are probably not going to handle the big power that you are talking about with a blower and nitrous, and I doubt that it will handle a well built small block....
If it were my car, I would put a nice 383 crate motor in it and use the rest of the money to build a budget race car that will be really fast
Just my two cents (I still can't find the cents key)

You dog !!!!!
Ken; if you are going to be a Ruby's tomorrow, I'd like to talk to you about the 4+3 that you have available.
I'll be in the red & white 55 Bel Air with the American flag on the antenna

Cool. :cool

You've seen my truck right? So you'll know what to look for. I usually grab a bite to eat on the patio around five-ish.

By the way, there's a Vette Set meeting tonight at Martin Chevrolet in Torrance at 7:30. ;)

comp cam, hydaulic flat tappet & lifters, specs are in my engine post

comp cams timing chain set & cam button

compcams push rods ,special length

AFR aluminum heads 190 , full port and polish 7/16 rocker studs
compcam roller rockers

Allstar gold iridated heavy duty timing cover with Allstar timing pointer (cool)

TPIS Big Mouth manifold
TPIS siamesed runners
TPIS ported plenum
TPIS 58mm throttle body

Accel fuel injectors

BJG dampner
Clevite bearings
rotating assembly balanced
cast aluminum GM tall Bowtie and Chevrolet engraved valve covers

Hows that?? :)

that sounds good

umm,, i figure i would upgrade what ever i need for it to take that much horses

i figure if i add weight on my back end it should help some

I'll show you how to make my C4 Speaker box with 12's that'll do it ROFL :L

WOW

This is a huge departure from your previous stuff. First there's a couple of questions to ask.

1. Can a 383 be mounted without ripping the front end of the car to shreds

2. What will it take to couple it to a transmission

3. How will your computer handle this change (it may puke)

4. Will you destroy your emmissions requirement (sounds stupid but if you are in Colorado the seller has the obligation to pass emmissions to sell and they wont pass engine changes like this)

5. You seem to love your fuel injection system. With this change will you be back to a carbuetor? (icky)

Just some things to think about.

I,m not sure what you mean by ripping the front end apart to fit the 383, but, the engine is no different. The extra cubes comes from thew bore and stroke and as far as the trans, nothing has changed there either , its the same block. Yes the computor will work ,you will have to have a new prom burnt to accomodate the changes .
