Hello, Corvette lovers..
I'm new here and need your help.. I've read through a few post and have a couple of things to check out on my car, but my main concern is this;
1992 LT1 Manual Transmission
From stand still as I'm engaging the clutch the car sounds as though it's backfiring (mis firing).
It smooths out and goes away and cruises down the road just fine.
Idea's please..I'm hoping it's not the opti-spark?
Are there some other things I should check out first before I deem the distributor bad.

I'm sorry if these question's have allready been answered, but I could not find a post that was exactly like my symptoms.

Thanks again

No apologies necessary! We encourage members to speak up if they don't easily find the topic they're interested in, or answers or suggestions related to their issues. If there exists a similar thread, someone will usually supply a link but even then, your thread is still considered worthy of discussion and replies on its own merit. You'll find we're a pretty informal bunch of Corvette nuts here and the majority of our members are friendly and helpful.

Now, unfortunately, I can't help with your questions but there are lots of others who can and I'll bet they'll be along soon.
I just wanted to say hello and welcome you to our little community - and remind you to post pix when you're able. We love Corvette photos!

Maybe its time for a tune up. Plugs,wires, pcv, air filter, etc. Could be weak injectors. Have you done an OHM check on them? Have you performed all the normal maintenance and it is still stumbling? It could be the EGR. Keep us posted.

Hi, guys
Thanks alot for the advice and direction to find my vette's problem. I did the egr block off test and fround it ran much better. I purchased a new one and wow...mis fire is gone..very pleased I did not have to purchase an opti spark. I think I will follow the forum's advice and also do a tune up..I love vette's.

Thanks all.

You learned an important lesson from the sounds of it. Diagnosis first, parts second. Saves time and money. :w
