In quest of a SAFE Mechanical E-brake...!!!

-am trying to locate either a machine-shop or a brake-manufacturer that might be capable of exploring this much needed C3-Vette Hand-brake SAFETY-improvement outlined at the top of this thread, as there are many owners who would be ready to up-grade to a radially-drilled Vented-drum brake-rotor if it were available.... ~Bob vH

Couldn't you just pull your back rotors, lay a pattern out and hand drill it?? It is not difficult to lay out a pattern that suits you, center punch the holes , start with a center drill and expand the holes using progressively bigger drill bits. It won't take an hour to drill all the holes you want.

I know this is not a picture of a rotor but look at all the holes I did in my front end. I cut almost 50 pounds out of the front, the vacuum crossmember lost 20 pounds alone.
This qualifies me as a expert hole driller

Holy smokes! :D (sorry, I couldn't resist!)

-Is anyone exploring this needed SAFETY innovation...?

-this might even get your insurance-company to reduce your rate by 7% maybe, --huh? Anyone willing to try and test it? We sincerely urge your thoughtful commentary, but Kindly refrain from making inane remarks and adolescently wasting our time repeating pictures etc., -this is a serious effort to improve safety (if you're not concerned with the issue then why waste space)...

Is primary brake system failure that big a concern? Look at the root cause and fix that instead. Brakes are probably THE most reliable system on any car I know of.

This is one of my rotors

Didn't that reduce the shear strength just a bit?

Yes it might but remember those are the stock rotors. I drilled out the rivets years ago. I car was bought new by my friend and I got it in the early 80's. I have run racing compound pads for a while on the rotors but found they were getting chewed up so I switched to organic pads after resurfacing.
So far absolutely no cracking problem and the main rotor has been drilled for at least 10 years.

parking brake

just an idea, might be stupid,,,, what about those line locks used for heating up tires burn outs at drag strip. They lock up your front calipers.
Can the be left on/ applied over nite for a PARKING BRAKE only.
I've got a steep driveway, parking brake is pretty much useless.

The line-lock solenoid valve draws power when it's engaged, so it would run your battery down; the solenoids also have limited life, even with only occasional brief dragstrip use, which is why they're rebuildable - leaving one on for any length of time would probably fry it.
