Sent friend to join he keeps getting message "incorrect referrer". Wassup with that?

No idea. What link did you give him? If he just comes to the forum home page here and clicks on the Register link, he should have no problem. Others have successfully registered this morning.

He gets incorrect referrer. What does he write in the referrer box?

He either writes your username or nothing in the referrer box. The referrer box is not a required field.
