Does anyone know how to increase the usable RPM range of a TT safely, i.e. more revs.

My post on rear gears is what prompted me to ask (I have a 3.33:1 rear as suspected - thanks for the info guys!)

I guess the other TTs are the same but it's a bit disappointing to run out of usable revs at 4500-4700, espaecially after owning an LT1 that would rev out to 5700 - that last 1000 revs was so satisfying!

I guess a cam and/or intake swap might be the way to go but I'm also wondering if it's safe to increase the rpms on a TT???

My car has no cats and the boost gauge runs to 55hg when the pedal hits the carpet!

Depends on how high in the rpms you wanna go.

Easiest way is to increase air flow is to go with larger runners and or shorten the runners.

larger runners and bigger intake should bring the usable rpms to about 52-5500 rpms.

Larger siamesed runners with bigger intake should bring you at or near 6000 rpms. Note: by using siamesed runners, your shortening the runner lenght.

An intake like the Callaway 100 Plus or a Mini Ram with a cam change would bring to at least 6500 rpms.

As you raise the rpms, you will lose some of the peak torque #'s but it will be re-distributed thoughout the overall rpm gain.

What Sam Said...

I can easily pull 5500rpms with no drop off in power. In fact as it passes 5000rpms it's pulling so hard I have to be careful or I'll overshoot 5500 easily.

I have the AS&M large tube runners, extrude honed plenum and intake base, 52mm TB and ported heads with larger valves.
