Guys, I'm sure I'm not at the right forum, but I'm computer stupid and it was an adventure just to get here.
Tonight I bought a 73 off of eBay-sight unseen- (egad!) and only have a limited amount of info. The trim tag on the drivers door says:
e13..trim 418...paint 976 with the last 5 vin digits of: 09848.
Looks like dark saddle/vinyl and Mille Miglia red, not sure what the e13 means and would like to find all the options that came with the car (radio, rear end, etc,etc. )
Can someone point me in the right direction from here?
Many, many thanks. I'm like a kid on Christmas eve about now.
Mike J.
:) :) ;)

E13 is the date that the car went past the trim tag station on the assembly line in St. Louis. It's not the date the car was finished in most cases, you can add a day or two there.

E= December 1972 (August 1972 was 'A')
13= 13thday of the month.

Congrats on a fine vintage you have decided to rescue....my personal favorite i must say.;)

Im pretty sure 09848 is the order it was produced or its number in the line....mine is over 30000.
there is a gap of about 5000 in the 30's somewhere...i have no idea why , but they didnt use 5000 numbers or so at the end of the year run.

You are in the right place. Lots of great information will come to you here in this forum.
976 is the exterior color code for Mille Miglia Red
418 is the trim code for dark saddle interior.

You probably should have spent some time on this forum before you purchased your car. But it is too late to worry about that now. Once you get your car you need to check it out and see what you have.
1. Origonal car in need of restoration
2. partially or fully restored car needing to be finished
3. Completely restored car ready to drive or show.
4. Modified car ready to be personalized or driven and raced.
5. ETC., Etc., Etc.

Once you have determined that then you need to decide what you want to do with it. Make a plan that suits your skill level and budget. Most of the cars available for sale are projects that someone failed to finish because of money or time. It is easy to get in over your head and then just want to get out because you see no end in sight. If you plan and stick to it you will find that this hobby can be fun and rewarding. If you don't you can create a money pit that you will never get out of.

Welcome to the forum enjoy your car and "drive it like you stole it"

Mike Congrats on the 73 , Like Tom said check out his web site its dedicated to the 73 there you will find a wealth of info...
I have a magazine that has all the codes for the options if you want just e-mail me and I can get that to you okay...
