PKE antenna damaged - driver door

I need some help here. Inside the driver door is a rectangluar piece of blue plastic wrapped with copper wire around it. I assume its part of the keyless entry system. Well, it still fucntions correctly, but its pretty much destroyed. Only one little screw/bolt is holding it on, its nearly falling off, its crushed in two. Since it hangs there, it interfers with the window rolling down.

I've looked in some vette sites, ecklers, etc with no luck. They must put this in before the window because it VERY difficult to get at. I've tried taping it up, but that only lasts a short time.

Anyone else have this problem? How much would this cost to repair?

I would suggest taking the window out if that will give better access. Don't know what that entails, but if you have the FSM shud be fairly easy.

Maybe you can remove the antenna & make do as you have another antenna in the rear hatch area, that is, unless you have a vert,:confused then it's in the other door.

Don't know how the one antenna systen might work. You could always give it a try.

This the gizmo your talkin about?

Yup, thats it. What I was planning on doing was getting some sort of metal straps and glue them onto the inside of the door, holding this thing in place. I found some things at home depot that might do the job.

I'm not that adventurous to take the window out. :confused

Here is what mine looks like. Broken almost everywhere. I was able to get all the pieces out, but its gonna be a challenge to try to glue everything all back together.

I was able to get it out via the front side of the door, i took a few screws out holding on the metal panel in the center of the door. I also had to remove the rubber molding on the outside of the door to get at the rivet holding this on.

Any ideas where to buy this? GM? How much would this cost? :confused

The door unlocked with this missing, so removing and using the rear antenna only works.

Good as new!

Good as new! I spent some time with Krazy glue and was up til 1:30am putting this all back together. I also added several plastic braces (the white) where it was cracked. I hit Home Depot and got some bolts and washers. I'll install over the weekend in the day light.

And you thought it was toast! Nice job. Always pays to think about it for a while!
