On order last was C5
I was driving my Burgman 650 ( a big big scooter ) on July 12 and US Postal truck run a stop sign and t-boned my right side. After 3 weeks in the human hobby shop with a crushed and broken rt. foot, a broken ankle in 2 places, a pelvis broken in 4 places, a separated left shoulder, a minor concussion and a lot of road rash I got to come home. Just got the last cast off last week. Learning to walk with pain.

Anyway, I order a Blade Silver, 3 pedals , 2LT, Mag. ride, pro exh., dual roof and Nav C7 about 3 weeks ago and am at 3400. The totally new C7 and my wife of 41 years "requesting " no more 2 wheeled machines convinced me. This was also my second negative major moto event.

My last Corvette, a Sebring Silver C5 that I ordered and had to wait 6 months for. The demand in 99 was really high and I did not want to pay over MSRP. Being in California, they had a law forbidding the registering of a vehicle with less than 7500 mile. It is intended to prevent vehicles being bought outside of California.

I am retired USAF, and flew with the airlines a few years. Landed a Flight Simulator Instructor job with Boeing for 10 years. Now just enjoy life and like traveling around at sea level and not at Mach .85. A lot more to see at that altitude and speed.

Thanks for listening and I am glad to be back in the American Iron ( actually carbon fiber and aluminum ) world of Corvettes.:D

Welcome to the CAC

I think that your wife is right about staying away from the 2 wheeled transportation. That doesn't sound like a fun time. The new Corvette will hasten your recovery, I'm sure.

Thanks for your service!!!!:pat

Welcome and a question ?

I hope your recovering well, but do you think a 7 speed is Ok for you ? You suffered a lot of damage to you hips and muscle's ? Considering the traffic situation in California, I would think that the near constant used of a clutch pedal would aggravate you hip injuries. I never am surprised by the law makes in California with the registration of a car bought outside the California borders ? So you can't buy a new car in Nevada and bring it home to CA ? I often wonder if California isn't a country unto itself. I really expect to see autos outlawed in favor of rickshaws !

I often watch shows about rebuilding of classics like on 'Overhauling' or 'Wrecks to riches' and I have to understand these rebuilt vehicle's ? Your taxed on virtually every aspect of your rides operation, how the hell do you actually get a High Performance car registered?
Anyway, Good luck and I'm very glad you gave up two wheels and no defenses from other mindless drivers. Hope your feeling better soon ! And welcome to the best forum for Corvettes. :w

Welcome aboard we're glad you decided to join us. The members and staff here are second to none. Sounds as if you made a wise choice to try and keep four wheels under you now that you've dodged a few over the years. I am sturggling with getting an Indian Chief but not sure it makes a lot of sense at my age and I have Parkinsons on my left side. Of course my neuroligist says NO and my wife says NO but I will have to decide that on my own, I TELL THEM BOTH THEY' RE NOT MY BOSS, but I talk a big show, :happyanim: My doctor says if I am going to get anything at all to get a 3-wheeler, I say it's just not the same ;shrug Might just have to be satisfied with my C-5 but if a nice well cared for used black Indian Chief presented itself I may entertain that too. I do like electric windows, cruise, and climate control ac on a trip but thought I could tool around on an Indian locally anyway, so we'll see if it is meant to be it will be!!!

Take care,
-Bill :w

Welcome to the CAC and I hope you continue to heal up......after 40 years of Harley's and a few fall over's I sold my Harley this spring after not paying attention and about getting run over. I realized I don't have the concentration or the reflexes that you need to stay out of trouble on a motorcycle.......I thought I'd really miss the Hog but the Grand Sport has taken over real well.....good luck to you and welcome aboard........

Welcome aboard! Can't really ad anything that hasn't been said. Hope to see you around. :w

I am in lower Alabama ( Pensacola, Florida ) now. Glad to be out of California. Spent half my life on the left coast.

As far as the two wheeled thing, I think most Corvette owners have DNA linked to biker owners. I think that the "need for speed" and the passion for HPs / living on the edge is shared by both worlds. If not we would all be driving Accords. ( 4 cyclinder base models )

I love machines, have owned about 20 motos from Sportsters to Ultra Classics and Gold Wings. I too sold my last HD last spring and picked up the (totaled) Burgman 5 months ago.

The C7 will be my 61st new car, I know it's crazy but I love new machines. I have a nice 2013 sedan for trips and a Mini Cooper Vert for just the twisties. The C7 will fill the raw power need.

I really find enjoyment reading threads here. So much experience and knowledge. Thanks for the feedback.

Status is still at 3400 and has been for over a week. I am guessing a vin # of 5000 give or take 500. Should start a lottery.lol
