Does any body know if such a thing exists which would be
applicable to C4's?

I was at a Corvette show Sunday, and a C5 guy mentioned that
he had "collector's insurance" for his 2001 Z06 which limited him
to 3000 mi per year but was much cheaper ($600 per year).

I tried Hagerty Ins. once and they said they don't do any vette
newer than '82.

Insurance

Hi, My Erie agent carries this type of insurance and not all vette's meet the criteria. My insurance is reasonable on the vette'. We have two licensed drivers and three autos and one is a $500.00 beater, I've always have done the Ins. game that way .Buy a vette' Buy a beater. You'll save on more than just the insurance. Just my .02.

I'm paying $450 per year on a '95, full coverage, unlimited mileage (State Farm). Of course I have 2 other autos insured with them also. That is where the deal comes in. Also, here in Ohio fender-bender claims are much lower than average and that helps too.

3,000 mi. per year. Must be a garage queen. Mine? She's a garage princess. I put about 5K per year on her without really trying. It would just kill me to limit my mileage. That's kind of like putting a 1 minute time limit on a 15 minute love-making session.
:eek

Hey Andy, glad I got to meet you at the show. Nice car also. I have my ins. w/ Classic Auto Ins. 1.800.397.0765. $640 a year. Car must be garaged and 3k mile limit. They have limits that go up to 5k I think. Let me know if you need anymore info. Give them a try, it doesn't hurt to ask. Guy

I have it on my '90 ZR-1 with State Farm for roughly $500.00 per year.

state farm? Erie?

I had State Farm for years and just switched to Erie last year.
Neither of my agents ever mentioned the possibility of a lower
rate than the standard(well, there's a little deduction for mileage
under 7500 mi per year). I could ask my Erie agent specifically
about "collector's" insurance and see if the verbage changes his
mind...

...but if not I will try Guy's company. Thanks Guy!!

beater for $500?

What make is that and how old?

Dealing with American cars, anything that old needs so much
attention just to keep it running, it hardly seems worth it. Unless you do your own work...?

My "beater" is a 1995 firebird, auto, w 90k mi. And it is not
trouble free.

I have insurance through Leland West around $300 / year, limited to 2500miles.

Beater

My 500.00 beater is an 88 Ford Ranger in excellent cond. 107, 000 miles and the only problem was a broken ground wire to the computer, any auto costs and I know from this forum that driving anything other than a vette is a no-no, but it makes sense to me , since "macho" isn't an issue, to use my vette for joy riding and my ranger as a daily driver. I understand some can't afford that route, but it works for me. I have had five vettes and five beaters. And yes, I do all my own work on my vehicles and the cost is written off as a business expense against a family realty business, you can't do that with a vette unless it's a corperate car that is leased. Parts for a ranger are less expensive than parts for a vette, one sips fuel the other guzzles, there's lots of reasons why to go the beater route, but if image is an issue it won't work for you. Jusy my .02.

Just as vetteguy said...

I got a quote from Classic Automobile Insurance Agency for my 96 C-4 (looks the same as vetteguy's) for $360...

$500 deductable
3,000 mile limit
$20,000 insurance

...and option of a 100/300 Liability with uninsured motorist for an additional $65

Here is the website:

http://www.classicins.com

Hope this helps.

Alfonsi4,

What would be insured for $360? Just collision and Comp?

I submitted for a quote, I'll see what they say.l

Southpaw,

Yes, for $360 it would only be collision & comp with a $500 dedeuctible.

Hope this helps!

compyelc4

You nee to look at the previous posts.... there is an option for liability...

alfonsi4,

That is indeed a "higher" option. I am not sure, though, if this option implies that some states allow you to drive without liability. Sounds kind of risky if it is. This means that if you smack someone and cause injuries and they sue, you might end up wearing a burlap sack driving to community service work in your borrowed Yugo...don't know.

I cant believe noone has mentioned GRUNDY classic auto insurance. I pay 225.00 a year with full coverage and an agreed value of $15,000. There is no milage restrictions, and a $0 deductable.

I tried Grundy, their reply was that they would not insure my car unless it was part of a "Collection". :confused Guy

I just got insurance (agreeed value policy) from Sneed,Robinson& Gerber in Tenn. they quoted me 550.00 a year but when I applied they charged 354.00, 20,000 value policy no mileage limit does have to be a garage queen not driven to work hope this helps.

was that based upon good driver, no under 18 drivers, under 25 drivers, etc???

I got one quote from a company for 900 bucks yr - for a car driven rarely - that is too much!!!!!!

INSURANCE

Try Sneed Robinson - no mileage limit. Full coverage for 1993 Convertible, $545.00, full coverage, must be garaged and not daily driver. I was very satisfied with the service - prompt and hassle-free.
