I think I'm in need of advice on whos the best insurance carrier for classic C3's.My present insurers(American Collectors) have said they will not insure my '79 for what I think its worth from my research on the NADA website,a quote for an "average" coupe wwith air, glass t's,etc is listed at $17,900,I wanted $15,000.I mistakenly mentioned (damn!)I got a good deal for $9000,and they say thats all they'll insure for! Any suggestions? I've looked at Grundys,Hagertys... Grundys is the best price so far.:w

I also have Hagerty and have had no issues, but then again I have been lucky and never needed to file a claim before.

Probably the better question is who has not had issues filing claims and recieving payment....

I personally went with who my Allstate agent recommended. She said she would go through Hagerty herself.

I just signed up with Hagarty. No problem with agreed value of $16k for my '69. They have been great to deal with so far.

Insurance never wants to see a reason for the insured to benefit from a loss. Like buy for 8,000 and insure for 12,000, and oops... starter wire shorted, car burnt up, darn. That's why insurance companies now do a credit report, to see if you might have a reason to commit insurance fraud.

Actually, i have mine throught State Farm. I have a declaration sheet stating $18k, it's full coverage. I pay $130 a year... Something happens, that check will look pretty damn nice, =)

That sounds like a declared or stated value and not an agreed value policy. Check with your agent to confirm what you would get in case of a total loss. Usualy a delcared/stated value only put a max that the insurance company will have to pay, not necessarly what you will get.

tom...

I will ask him again. When I got the policy with him, I did ask him, if the car is stolen, or totaled, what would I get. My dad has been insuring his 63 dodge polaris there for years. I KNOW he hounds people and gets stuff in writing, and has asked him that a dozen times, lol. I will check again though, better safe than sorry. especially when I am about to put a stinger hood on, and a 383 with 500hp in it in may =)

Who are you getting the Stinger hood from? I've been shopping around for hoods,& the best price I've found is from www.vanacorvette.com(Vanacor corvette parts). But I didnt see a stinger for a C3 there.

actually, they do have the stinger hood for the c3 listed there... http://www.vanacorvette.com/page27.htm They don't have a picture there, but it is listed in the box on the middle of the page.. Actually, I am going to get it through Ecklers. I do know your right, they are the most reasonable, hell, $175 less than Ecklers, but from the posts I have been reading on here, they worry me. I have been reading that their products are too bad, but they don't seem to fit right, and need to be re-shapped a bit, prepped more, and don't look like a hood should around the edges... To me, if this is true, the extra $175 is worth it. I mean, hell, after $500-700 for the hood, and $600ish to paint it, for $1300ish, I want it to look amazing, I don't want to be like, oh, they were right, i don't like the edges. I want to be totally happy with it. I would really have liked to see a stinger hood on a 70's vette in person, rather than pictures, but I do know to me that was the sharpest hood they ever made, and I bet it would look great on my 76 =)

insurance

Try Condon and Skully. They were really easy to work with and they will insure for true value.

I got an online quote from Grundy, & an online & phone quote from Hagerty.Grundy was $218 for a '79 Corvette at $15,000 & $100,000 liability & comp.,Hagerty was more online and less after speaking with someone, but I had to prove I had a daily driver car with separate insurance.Condon & Skully's online quote system is down.Any others?
