All the parts came in, so this morning started putting the heads together when I noticed the 1.94 intake valves are slightly larger diameter than the valves that were there. I checked the old ones and they are 1.83 or so. Any idea why? Looked for valves that siz and cant be found. Can I use the 1.94 valves..they fit without any problems? Any help is appreciated as of now i'm sitting in my shop with my thumb up my %$$.

just checked the head casting numbers...what a shock....80-85 305 HO 1.84 - 1.5 valves. WTF! Now what??????

Sounds like your in it up to your neck...oh S***. WOW, umm I don't even know what to say. ;help You got a 305 in your Vette, who did you buy this off of?

private sale, a friend of a friend of a friend...supposedly only deals with vette's, did so his whole life..yada yada yada.

Tread carefully my friend...whew

Ought to have a little more zip when you're done! The 305 is a nice little engine (I had one in a Pontiac Phoenix), but it definitely does NOT belong in a Vette! Good luck with the 4 bolt, and keep us updated on how the project is coming along. Sell the 305 to help pay for the 350, and don't look back..............

I read an article recently where the 305 was put in early 80's California emissions corvettes. I don't remember the exact yr models.
