;helpHey gang!
I need to replace the carpeting and the recover the seats with leather this winter. I put chambered exhaust with an H pipe on this summer and am blown away with how great it sounds. What isn't so thrilling is the sound levels I am seeing in the cabin. Over -98 dB measured at 3500 to 4500 RPM. Peaks at over -108 dB. I just got back today from a 400 mile drive and I really do need to knock the sound down.
Recently, I have been having a dialog with Don Sambrook of Sound Deadener Showdown, LLC about his thoughts on reducing the interior noise level. This material has to go down before any carpeting. Of course carpeting has to go down before seats are rebuilt and ..blah blah blah.
It was a polo green exterior with a tan interior. It now is bright red exterior and the wife believes it should be a black interior. I guess I'll go with the black carpeting part but I want the seats to be light colored so I don't get third degree butt burns in our Texas summers from black seats.
What I need to know is:
1. Do replacement door panels come with the interiors commonly? (I'm hoping yes to explain the incredible prices I've been seeing!)
2. What is your opinion of best quality for best price for vendors of both the carpeting and the seat rebuild materials? Best customer service for each?
3. Has anyone used Don's materials in his/her car? I asked Don if he had done a C4 before and he said no. I sent somewhat detailed dimensional drawings of the interior so he could estimate the materials cost. I have yet to ask for further details on the placement of the CLV tiles in the aft part of the car. It is predicted to be a three part material attack (CLV tiles, Closed Cell foam and Mass Loaded vinyl). Unknown cost so far. I did try to find like materials on McMaster Carr and for one component (MLV) it was over $500.00!
4, Anything else I should watch out for in your opinion?
