interior color codes

where do you find the color codes for the interior on a 84 vette.... i need to replace the center console pad and they list red and carmine red, i assume its just plain red but i hate to order something not knowing for sure.. the seats look to be a bit of a darker red but the lower part of the center console seems brighter (difference between leather and plastic i assume) also once i find this code, where do i look it up...

if its like the 82 the color code is on the inside drivers door (on the car not the door) up near the windshield not the easiest place. Mine was hard to read so I did the piece of paper and shaded over it with a pencil.

There should be the RPO codes under the center console door.

But from looking at the picture you posted I believe you have the bright red and not the carmine red. Looks just like what I have in my 88.

I agree with Baldie 88; I looked up the exterior codes for the 84 and only Bright Red was sold, no magnetic red or carmine. Also, the interior colors were red leather; no carmine was listed. Your interior is definitely red and not and off color red according to the Black Book. The Bright Red stayed until 1993 when it was switched to Torch Red and Ruby Red was also offered. Go ahead and order the red cover.

The actual INTERIOR color from the GM color chart is called "Dark Red"...which is weird since it actually looks bright red in the car!

thats exactly my thing, it looks so red in pictures, but in person its a darker red... im confused

Oh...so it is darker in person then. I'd go with the GM codes. Keep in mind its also faded so its already not accurate to original 84 for sure....thus, dark red is now brighter red. There is also the possibility that the seats or carpet were already exchanged with a newer color. The center pad may have been sprayed or replaced to match.
Btw, if you want to refreshen the carpeted parts I'd recommend the fabric dye ..it does a great job and you save $!
