Interior color decision

I need some help deciding on interior color. The car is a 78 and exter is black. Orig interior was oyster with cloth enlay on the seats and door panels. I just purchased some C5 seats off of ebay in black. I really don't want a black interior and have spent too much on the seats to needlessly recover them.

Here is what I am considering doing:
Blk seat
Blk carpet
blk door panels and dying one section on the panel red
all of the plastic oyster trim including dash will be red.
Red shifter boot
Blk steering wheel unless I can find a 2 tone one for sale.

I thought about red carpet but that is so bright I'm not sure how it will look with the all black seats.

Trying to keep a decent budget as I am also about to replace the engine and tranny with something more modern and fuel efficient.

ANY ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Any photos of 2 tone interiors will be a big help.

I'll be taking some pics of the car this week for the before pics and will post with after pics when done.

I haven't been to many car shows so hopefully someone who has can give you some ideas of what they have seen. There do seem to be some black vettes with all black inside. when I did a search I found this:

and that is just a touch of red on the seats.

If I were doing a two tone interior I would want that second color detailed somewhere in either the engine area or some striping in the accent color. JMHO.

Try this....

Black
Black dash
Black door panels (leave them ALL BLACK)
Black seats
Black t-bar trim, sail panel trim, rear window trim, windshield trim)
Black rear storage compartment trim (ties the trim into the carpet)
Black seat belts
Black e-brake cover
Black kick panel trim

Red
Red carpet
Red door handle / armrests (could be black... red would tie the floor carpet into the theme if the insert on the door was black)
Red escutcheons (ties the carpet into the trim)

If you do something like above you'll get the look of the two-tone C5 interior. BTW- Mid America offers a resto-mod door panel that is black with red inserts. Then, all the carpet will be red. Looks pretty cool!

I saw those door panels the other day but they cost twice as much as what I am paying for the new ones I ordered. So far this is what I am thinking about doing now.

Blk seats
Red carpet
Black floor mats
Leave dash pad black
rest of dash red
2 tone steering wheel

Carpet and seats have to stay the rest I can play with as I do it to decide. Can't find many pics of others interiors to get ideas from.

Not sure if I am switching hoods or not. Like the stinger. If I go with it then red accents on scoop and probably some in the engine compartment.

The biggest change is gonna be the exterior. Found the parts to go convertible so will top the car off with a red top.

The later C4s with red, beige or gray interiors had some black components as well. The red interior Grand Sports (although not black) were actually red & black. Try looking for pics in the C4 sections of some of the forums.

My Corvette is black inside and out. Personally, I really like it that way.

If you want to see how it looks, I can post some pictures.

Good Luck!

My only reason for not wanting a black interior is the heat. I'm in Texas and in Summer that would get really hot sitting in the sun.

Interior parts have started coming in today. Starting to get excited. I ordered the door panels in red and arm rest in black. After seeing them I think I will leave it like that to go with the black seats. It's just the right amount of black for what I am doing.

Got to get the pics started so I can tear the old stuff out!
