I am in process of doing a quality restoration on 65 red convert. The car has the correct block, but not matching. Car was built with red/white interior, not very common. Somebody changed the interior to black. As I must buy most of the interior, color change is not a problem. Question is, does returning the interior to original red/white add value to a non-matching motor car? Or is it more buyer preference? What interior color is considered most desirable on a red 1965? Thanks for your comments.

If the car is non-matching, I doubt having the original interior color would make a lot of difference in value. My advice is to use whatever interior color you'd like, unless you're only getting it ready to be sold... in that case I'd use original interior colors or "resale red".

Interestingly, saddle interior was not an option with a red exterior, yet it probably would look very nice.

Hi!

I would look at what you are looking for in a Corvette. A friend of mine just sold a beautiful 1966 blue on blue NOM roadster and received $38,000. The car was great. I am restoring a base engine, matching numbers, 1965 Glen Green with Saddle interior and I am figuring on a top value of $38,000. The market can be strange. If you like the red and white combo, I would install the correct interior. You may find a 65 engine someday and decide to install it. They are listed on Ebay occasionally. My interior package from Al Knox was $1500.00 including a new top. I believe you would only want to do this once.

Have fun!!

If you are doing a "correct" resto on your 65 with a correct but nom engine, then I would stay with the orig colors. on a red car i think a red or red/white int with a white top is the way to go. Here is a link to a red red 65 I built a few years back, it was a great looking car.65 red corvette roadster

If you're taking votes, I love the red/white interior combo.
I wish it was an option for C1s.

(1) Sharp-looking color combination, (2) relatively rare, and (3) "correct", too. I'd say go for the red/white combo.

I can't really speak to the value, but unless personal preference overrides, you won't go wrong reverting to original configuration. On the other hand, if you really like the black, I don't think it will be the end of the world, especially on a NOM car.
