If I wanted to change my interior color from tobacco (which I hate)to say red or black for example, has anyone used these spray type products to overspray the original pieces?? I'm not interested in saving the pcs for future originality. I have vinyl seats but will probobly switch out for leather..
What have you all tried and what works best??

I changed the interior color on a 69', it worked ok on the dashpad and door-panels. You have to be very thorough cleaning the parts before applying the dye. I can't rememeber what brand of dye I used, but cleaning is the keyword for success. And don't try it on the seats, it will start to peel off.

My one experience with interior dye was several years ago. I went from red to black on a c4, did all my prep work, primed, and dyed. It looked terrific when I was done. I did the door panels, console, and e-brake cover. Unfortunately, over time, where my elbow rested on the door panel, the dye rubbed off and it looked pretty bad, so I had to re-spray regularly every few months.

I changed the color from camel to black. Used a product caled SEM interior die. Comes in a rattle can. Cleaning is the key. If you use SEM buy the prep spray also. Im very happy with the results. Did the project last winter and put 5k on the car this summer with no issues

Wrap everything in leather, no problem with paint, only your money :D

SEM sounds like a good product. How many cans did it take you to dye all the panels??

Oh boy good question. Seems like one for the dash and one both door panels and maybe 2 for misc. trim parts. I first bought gloss and tried on some small parts, way too shiney. Used black satin which matched the new center consoles and the new windsheild header trim. Im sure I only bought one can of prep spray.. Lots of dish soap and hot water. P.O. used Armoral and that silicon is a bugger to remove. I know the corvette venders have more colors than SEM but I have no exsperiance with there products. I wanted to do the interior in gray but black seemed so much easier to macth up

Light camel and it looked like a camel lived in the car for years.. what a mess. The before pics where lost in a computer crash just before the rebuild. Didnt know about photobucket then

SEM automotive interior dye is great stuff. I bought a quart of 68 411 dark blue from my SEM dealer and did the interior of my '68, covering the black a PO had installed. Shoots like lacquer. I've still got about 1/4 of the quart.

Cleanliness is the key. Everything to be dyed has to be squeaky clean.
