Hi. I've been restoring my old interior and I've had some problems finding some of the parts I need in the correct color. I've thought about looking into interior dye. Is there any type anyone would recommend. My interior in my 74 is medium saddle. I've found black replacement seats and I was thinking with the gauge center gauge cluster and the speed and rpm gauge being black, it would look kind of neat to paint the center ebrake column up black all the way to the dash. Has anyone done this? I think it would look nice but if anyone has any pics it would be appreciated.

You may want to check this thread couple days ago. http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/c3-technical-performance/127650-paint.html Some good advise to be had.
I have the same interior color, IMO it's one of more difficult colors to match. Just add age and sun fade to that. Mine's about 10 different shades of M.S. But I'm just not going to throw the $$ into it to correct it. Gives it some character in my eyes.

It's your car, if you like the black 'n tan, go with it.
Just some food for thought, you might keep in mind the fact of resale. It could set you back.
Hummm....black 'n tan. Think I'll have one those about now...LOL:beer

SEM automotive interior dye. It's available through automotive paint suppliers and possibly from the SEM website. SEM will cover leather, vinyl, hard plastic, and metal. It's good stuff.

Cleanliness is the key. Any part to be dyed has to be super squeaky clean.

Be sure to use adhesion promoter prior to applying your dye. Plastic parts need to be well cleaned to avoid the dreaded fish eye due to oil & silicon contamination. I've had good results with PPG's DBI brand interior paint.

Adhesion

Its also a good idea to lightly used some steel wool or fine sandpaper to prep the surface for better adhesion.
