Is It Worth It???

After all is said - I have VERY mixed emotions.

I LOVE the Riverside RED/Saddel Tan interior and would like to have it stripped to the glass and repainted (quality) from the Tan exterior to the RED. My only concern is that I loose the value with the 100% original 69K original mile car. Decisions, decisions. Especially if I go the full FRAME off Restoration.
Hey I saw a (blank) Badge for sale on Ebay for a whopping $1500 "buy it now" for interior/exterior code. That's one thing I wouldn't stoop to do - I'd rather bite the bullet and have the car a more pleasing to my eye color.
 
Each time I take my car to my mechanic I ask him the same question: "is it worth it?". Each time I ask him he replies with: "is it worth it to YOU?". Then I give him money.
 
There's no shortage of red Corvettes. If you want a red one, why don't you sell the brown one and buy a red one? If you even tell people that you changed the color, regardless of how nice it is, they're going to look down their noses at you. I'd vote for leave it alone.

Of course, if I owned another saddle Corvette, I'd tell you to "go for it!" I mean, the more of them people customize, the less there would be that looked like mine.
 
For what it's worth I have a beautiful mille miglia red 1972 with the original engine, tranny, deluxe interior etc. The previous owner had the color changed from the original steel cities gray to the red. When the time comes, I intend to go back to the gray. I love the look of the red but it just eats at the back of my mind that it is not what it is supposed to be.

THANK YOU ALL for the several suggestions and YES after all your advice I WILL KEEP IT THE SAME Tan/Tan color. I take shipment next week and can hardly wait. If patience is a virtue then I'm not!! - the waiting is KILLING me. I have strongly considered Flying out and driving it the 1590 miles back home, but have reservations due to the LOW miles on the car.

Now I have to build a garage for the baby - I went to Steelbuildings.com and am looking into the 40X30 with insulation then throwing up solar pannels - ANY ADVICE there???

Glad that you decided to keep it original, you probably would have liked it at first, but then hated yourself in the next couple of years.

They are only original once !!!

In 1990, I restored an original 71 Z-28 R/S Camaro. The car was a 100% original vehicle, with build slip and waranttee plate (POP). The color was code 61 Burnt Orange, with black delux interior. Great car, and when it came time for paint, I changed it to 1990 Corvette Bright Red with black stripes. My painter , who had done all of my Corvettes over the years, did a faboulous job.

Every show I ever entered with that car, it got dinged as the paint was not original. And when I sold it last year, I got $16000 for the car. The buyer said, " Jim, I would have given you $20 for the car if the paint color was original"

Now , that is a Camaro. What about a Corvette. Sell the saddle tan, and by a real red car.

I recently bought a 64 Tan/Tan original...but somewhere down the ownership line.....it went to Riverside Red form the tan exterior.....sorry....but I love the Red/Tan combo...if it had been Tan/Tan....I would have passed on the purchase......my 2 cents....you only live once...be happy with it.....you dont want to regret later.....I'm not!
