Cornering was probably not high on the priority list when that car was built. But the role cage and its tie-in to the front might help with chassis stiffness. I guess we are used to seeing more of a cross-member between the front wheels. Cool looking car, though.
 
I think the quaility of the bends and welds and then the polishing is outstanding.

But I am un-quailified to comment on its strenght.I always thought the strongest structure besides a circle is one with lots of trianglation and I dont see too much of it in the photos

my thoughts exactly.....when I look at the kind of frame that you have I am comfortable that the loads can be dispersed, but this one, there aren't enough tubes to carry the loads and it seems that only one tube or so is going to have to do the job......maybe that is what they have learned as well and why the project is stopping.....
