Hi all,

Yesterday I pushed the button on the dash that makes the lights do that flip thing and only the right one went down!!!!!

I opened the bonnet and after much fiddling nothing happened until I closed the hood when as the hood locked in to place the light flipped over and closed???

It will pop up but not pop down whats going on????

Cheers in advance

Too much Viagra??? :D

Sounds like something is loose in the harness. Check connections from headlight to harness. Other than that I was just couldn't resist the above comment. Hope I didn't PO you off and hope you get it working.

If you disconnect the harness and run a jumper you can test that the armature in the motor is not sticking by powering it up and then reversing polarity. That will show you that it works in both directions. If it does not work you will need a new headlight door motor. If it does work in both directions you need to test the harness for power on both sides depending on if you are putting them up or down. If you have power and the motor was working it was just a bad connection, use some electric contact cleaner and plug the harness back in firmly. If you did not get power both ways you need to perform a continuity test back to the headlight switch. If you don't have continuity find the break in the wire and you have found your problem. If you do have continuity test the output of the headlight switch. That will probably be the answer at that point.

Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Watch the following

Pop the hood.... at the base of the headlight motor.. there is a knob have an assistant turn on the lights.... watch the knob to see if it spins.

Now have em turn the lights off..( watch & listen to the BAD side)
did the knob spin?
( If yes... you need new gear bushings)

If no... spin the knob manually.. be careful the knob MIGHT take off and now start spinning... ( if yes, the motor needs a rebuild )

Let us know!

In the meantime...unplug the harness on the offending light and leave it in the UP position.

On my car was a broke wire. Was doing the same thing as yours. Cut & spliced good as new.

Good point

If the headlight harness is not routed correctly it can snag on the wires, check that out too!
