I just got back from spending the day at Corvettes at Carlisle and let me just say, I could not be more pumped, and more proud of the Corvette, than I am today.

I spent much of the day talking to numerous folks and, I have a gut feeling that all the whining from some members that we've seen here about the C6 will change when we see the production model.

There are GREAT things coming for Corvette in the next few years and I'm willing to bet that the C6 is going to blow people's shorts off.

To the gloom and "doomers" who are concerned that the Cadillac is going to steal the Corvette's thunder, or the Corvette is going to become a watered down Cadillac, FORGET IT. IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

I'm quite confident that GM is well aware of the concerns of Corvette enthusiasts in relation to the Cadillac and both platforms will continue to be unique in their own way without stealing the thunder from one another.

Last but not least, kudos to Dave Hill for doing a fantastic job with the C5 seminar and answering questions from the audience.

Folks, if you get the chance to do a question and answer session with Dave Hill, don't waste his time asking him questions like: "when will we see the 500 horsepower C6 Z06".

He knows and YOU know that he cannot and will not answer questions like that.

I will be attending Dave Hill's C5 Tech Seminar at 10:00 am tomorrow once again. If anyone has any questions regarding the 2004 Corvette or C5 questions in general, feel free to post them here, and if I get the chance, I'll try to ask and get an answer.

If you happen to read this in time and you'll be attending Corvettes at Carisle tomorrow, check out the really cool video that GM Engineers have brought with them showing the rigourous testing that the Z06 has undergone. Simply amazing.

Although there is nothing like hearing a ZR-1 at wide open throttle screaming down the road, I'm now convinced the Z06 sounds almost as good - and that's coming out of a TV speaker!!

I have got to get somebody to take me for a ride in a Z06 one of these days! :)

In summary, I know that somewhere up there, Zora is looking down on Corvette Development and giving them two thumbs up. :upthumbs

One other thing I forgot to mention. According to Dave Hill this afternoon, the C6 coupe will debut at the January 2004 Detroit Auto Show and the C6 convertible will debut in March 2004 at the Geneva Auto Show followed by the Z06 in spring of 2005.

hopefully there will be some accurate spy-photos by then.i happen to think G.M. is turning a new (good) corner.they will have to make the vette better evertime they make the caddy better to keep the pecking order in check.cant wait to think what a 2006 Z06(est 500hp)will do when ATI makes a pro-charger kit for it.they should leak out some info like tire sizes and backspacing so the after-market can get a jump on things.:D
aloha,Todd.

Sounds great Rob ! Do you know if Dave Hill and these seminars are going to be happening at Effingham , also ? Cliff

I don't know, but I'll check tomorrow.

Its all yet to be seen. Hype is ahhh just that Hype. Dave Hill is a very good spin Dr. for GM. Would you expect GM to promote how close the C6 and XLR are in reality?

  1. What makes you think Dave Hill is the only person I've talked to?
  2. Why in hell should I believe ANYTHING you have to say over anyone else?
    [/list=1]

You and I seem to share very different views about Corvette and I'm not turning this thread south like all of the others.

If you're going to attempt to turn this thread into another "gloom and doom for Corvette" thread, think twice.

Noo not "Gloom and Doom" sweetheart, just a healthy dose of reality! Plain and simple.

Rob-

Is there anything at all that you could say about the C6? Granted, some of it is confidential, but any tidbit would be nice.

I really don't think anybody cares, cfour.
I feel the same way you do rob, that the C6 will blow people's minds and that nobody is going to know what hit them. Even though I haven't seen uncovered pictures myself, I can see it, and it is freakin' crazy!! It's hard to explain and I don't know why but It's like I saw it one night subconsciously and I was like, "holy crap".
I believe you rob, you can't convince everybody, and you can't please everybody, but I do believe you;worship

Greg,

I cannot.

During Dave Hill's seminar today, he briefly explained that they go to great length to try and keep ahead of the competition and prevent them from learning what Corvette Development is doing until they're ready for production.

As Dave Hill stated at the end of his seminars, "stay tuned". :)

Ross, you like to stir the pot here and for all I know, you could be nothing more than a burger flipper at Burger King. As far as I'm concerned, your information holds as little validity as the information I've heard from everyone else. I just choose to believe certain people over others.

Plain and simple.

I'd like to add that Dave Hill answered my question that C6 will be an evolution and not a totally new design(eg, zero parts in common with a C5). That is what we thought, so a lot of what the spy photos, etc are capturing are probably right on.

I expect a rear mounted transaxle, big center tunnel, and big rear end, just like the C5. In fact, the chassis structure itself might be unchanged.

So to me, C5 to C6 will feel like C2 to C3, except the engine and trans, etc, will also change.

Hey Rob...saw you standing in front taking notes during saturday's seminar. I liked the question about the brakes. Unfortunately, Dave said they will not retrofit the C5! :cry And did you lift that Z16 hood? It felt like it weighed 10 pounds!! And when he said the cammo'd cars are NOT what we will see in January!

:beer :bash :blow ;LOL ;LOL

Thanks for the poop, Rob, and IMHO, some responses don't deserve reply/recognition, sweets or not!.

As quickly as the Japanese respond to American innovation, I appreciate the secrecy around the Corvette. I want to know as badly as the next guy, but want a rice squasher even more! The spies crack me up, after watching them guess for 40 years. I give them little heed anymore.

Another good thread Rob!!!

Wish I could be there.......

Rob,

Wish I could be there....... Enjoy the day. Dave would be interesting to hear from, especially in that type of settting. All praises for your site. Any type of informatin concerning 2004 C5 that you can bring to us at days end would be great. Thanks again.

I wonder what it is like to talk to all of those people and keep in so many secrets about C6? That has to be tough. Enjoy!!! Sorry if this is a day or two late......
